What’s the job?

The Regulatory Advisory Manager plays an important role in protecting Coast Capital from operational, regulatory and reputational risk. As a key member of the first line of defence within Member Resolution, you’ll advise business partners on regulatory requirements, assess risks associated with organizational change, and guide the development of effective controls. You’ll also lead first-line risk and compliance activities, including the management and remediation of operational and compliance issues.

What you’ll get to do

- Partner with business units across the first line of defence to provide guidance on regulatory compliance programs, internal controls and regulatory risk management.

- Interpret legislative and regulatory requirements, clearly communicating the resulting obligations, risks and business impacts to stakeholders.

- Provide practical risk guidance on enterprise-wide initiatives, supporting informed decisions and successful outcomes within Coast Capital’s risk appetite.

- Lead and facilitate change-impact and risk assessments, ensuring applicable regulatory requirements are considered throughout organizational changes and initiatives.

- Review and challenge control information provided by business units and other departments, identifying operational, regulatory and reputational risks and recommending appropriate mitigation strategies.

- Provide expert advice on regulatory requirements and guidance issued by organizations such as OSFI and FCAC, helping business units develop effective action plans.

- Lead first-line action plans for operational and compliance remediation, including incident analysis and issue management through the Reportable Compliance Issue process.

Who are we looking for?

- You have seven to nine years of experience in regulatory compliance risk management within a federally regulated credit union, bank or comparable discipline.

- You bring experience conducting risk assessments, evaluating internal controls, monitoring and testing, responding to incidents, managing project risk or developing risk-management infrastructure.

- You have demonstrated expertise in the regulatory environment governing federally regulated financial institutions, including the Bank Act and guidance issued by OSFI, FCAC, FINTRAC, OPC and CRA.

- You are skilled at translating complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical and sustainable business solutions.

- You have strong knowledge of financial products and services, associated regulatory requirements, risk considerations and member outcomes.

- You bring excellent analytical, problem-solving, writing, communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to advise and influence leaders across the organization.

- You have a bachelor’s degree or diploma requiring three to four years of full-time study, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. A professional designation in risk management, governance or compliance is considered a strong asset.
