About this role
About us:
Linklaters is a global law firm, providing legal services in 20 countries and through 30 offices.
Linklaters is a people business. Being best in class in the eyes of our clients means that our people must be exceptional.
We look not only for brilliant minds, but for people who will thrive in our environment: people who love working collaboratively and demonstrate the innovative, efficient, agile, entrepreneurial, and responsible mind-set we aim to bring to every interaction.
Ours is an environment of outperformance. We achieve this not with targets and incentives, but by fostering a positive, supportive, fair, and open atmosphere.
We respect and value difference but insist on inclusivity. We celebrate all aspects of diversity and challenge any form of bias. This is vital to our ability to work as one team, with a common goal.
The Role
As the BD Manager, Employment & Incentives and Pensions, you will support the development and delivery of business development strategies that drive profitable growth across both practices. Using strong market and product insight alongside data-led intelligence, you will identify opportunities, support cross-selling and deliver client-focused BD initiatives. You will build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the firm, helping to shape and execute the wider BD strategy in line with the firm’s Clients and Sectors priorities.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver business development plans that support profitable growth across the Employment & Incentives and Pensions practices, aligned with wider firm and global BD priorities.
- Develop and execute targeted client growth plans, identifying cross-selling opportunities and collaborating with global product teams to strengthen client relationships.
- Build strong relationships across global BD and Business Development & Marketing teams, ensuring connectivity, collaboration and alignment with global strategy, processes and resources.
- Partner with Client & Sector BD teams to identify priority sectors and market opportunities, developing compelling go-to-market campaigns that engage target clients.
- Provide timely, high-quality input into win strategies, pitches and panel submissions, helping to deliver compelling and client-focused propositions.
- Use data-led insights, market intelligence and client feedback to support horizon scanning, identify opportunities, manage pipelines and inform BD strategy.
- Leverage technology, tools and data infrastructure to generate targeted, relevant insights and maximise the effective use of global resources and shared services.
- Lead and develop a high-performing BD team, supporting talent development and fostering a positive, collaborative and inclusive team culture.
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience in business development within legal or professional services, ideally with exposure to Employment & Incentives and/or Pensions.
- Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing BD strategies aligned with wider business objectives and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Strong track record of building effective stakeholder relationships and collaborating across global teams, practice groups and sectors to drive cross-selling opportunities.
- Experience providing strategic input into pitches and panel submissions, with a strong understanding of client needs and market opportunities.
- Strong analytical and commercial skills, with experience using data, market intelligence and industry trends to inform BD activity and decision-making.
- Confident using technology, data tools and global resources to generate actionable insights and enhance the effectiveness of business development initiatives.
