Research Assistant – Reach and Read Program Columbia – Per Diem

The Research Assistant will engage children and caregivers in clinic waiting rooms through interactive read-aloud activities that promote early literacy, language development, and school readiness. The individual will receive training in early childhood development and literacy-based engagement strategies.

Responsibilities include:

- Reading and interacting with children in waiting rooms using age-appropriate books and activities.
- Supporting families with children ages 0-5 by sharing information about early childhood development, literacy, and school readiness.
- Encouraging positive caregiver-child interactions through reading and play.
- Maintaining and restocking books in exam rooms and waiting areas.
- Unpacking and distributing book shipments, monitoring inventory, and notifying the supervisor when supplies are low.

Preferred Criteria

- Bachelor’s degree

Required Criteria

- High School Diploma or GED
- Passion for community health and literacy
- Excellent organizational skills
