A Snapshot of Your Day (GIS Installation, Commissioning & Service Engineer)
As a GIS Installation, Commissioning & Service Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting the successful execution of Siemens Energy's high-voltage substation projects across India. You will be responsible for the installation, testing, commissioning, and servicing of Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) systems at customer sites, ensuring compliance with Siemens Energy quality, safety, and performance standards.
In this field-based role, you will work closely with customers, project teams, engineering functions, and factory experts to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction. Your technical expertise, problem-solving capabilities, and commitment to operational excellence will contribute directly to the reliability and modernization of India's power transmission infrastructure. We are looking for a proactive and technically proficient professional with hands-on experience in high-voltage equipment who is passionate about delivering quality solutions and supporting the energy transition journey.
How You'll Make an Impact
• Execute on-site GIS installation activities in accordance with Siemens Energy standards, approved drawings, project specifications, and customer requirements.
• Perform pre-commissioning, commissioning, high-voltage testing, and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for GIS systems to ensure reliable and successful project delivery.
• Independently manage site execution activities, supervise technicians and subcontractors, and ensure adherence to project schedules, quality standards, and safety requirements.
• Prepare, maintain, and submit commissioning reports, inspection records, test documentation, and project handover packages.
• Develop and support preparation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Method of Statements (MOS), and other technical project documentation to strengthen execution excellence.
• Collaborate effectively with engineering, factory, project management, and service teams to troubleshoot technical issues and minimize project risks.
• Serve as a key technical interface with customers, responding to queries, providing updates, and ensuring clear communication throughout project execution.
• Ensure strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) guidelines and proactively promote a strong safety culture at project sites.
• Provide technical feedback and field insights to support continuous improvement initiatives, product enhancements, and process optimization.
• Support service activities, maintenance assignments, and customer support requirements to enhance equipment reliability and long-term customer satisfaction.
What You Bring
• Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 2-3 years of experience in installation, testing, commissioning, or servicing of GIS, AIS, or high-voltage substation equipment.
• Strong knowledge of high-voltage switchgear systems and associated testing and commissioning procedures.
• Good understanding of national and international standards such as IEC, IS, and other relevant regulations related to high-voltage electrical systems.
• Proven ability to interpret electrical drawings, technical specifications, and commissioning documentation.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to resolve technical challenges effectively at project sites.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Prior experience working with utilities, EPC contractors, or reputed power transmission organizations will be an added advantage.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic site environment while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
• Willingness to travel extensively across India and work at customer locations and remote project sites as required.
