About this role
Required:
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Mandarin; proficiency in Cantonese is a plus
- At least 4 years of combined education, certification, or experience in linguistics/translation (with professional-level translation proficiency), including at least 1 year in project management
- Strong Mandarin and English interpretation skills; simultaneous interpretation experience is strongly preferred
- Expertise in translation and skills in writing, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and syntax of written Chinese (traditional and simplified Chinese characters), and English
- Proven skills in project management , time management, interpersonal communication, problem solving and the ability to work under pressure
- Good understanding of Church doctrine, terms, policies, and ecclesiastical organization
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with operating systems and Microsoft Office, basic knowledge of graphic design, media production and language recording is a plus
- Ability to interact with external and internal resources in a way that ensures projects are completed in a timely manner and according to client specifications
- Some knowledge of countries, history, culture, current events, customs and values in the countries associated with the languages being translated
- Ability to navigate through translation and business management tools, web interfaces, reading briefs, and instructions, including entering data and downloading and uploading files
- Ability to provide basic technical support to translation and business management systems users
