About this role

Meet the Team

Splunk’s Lakehouse team builds federated analytics capabilities that help customers search and analyze data wherever it resides. Our work extends the Splunk data platform to connect with data lakes and turn distributed data into actionable insights. We are a collaborative, engineering- and product-focused team working across distributed systems, query processing, and cloud services. Join us to tackle challenging data processing problems, shape technical solutions, and deliver capabilities that customers rely on to answer real-world questions.

Your Impact

Lead the delivery of features from technical design through implementation, release, and ongoing operation to extend Splunk’s federated query and data lake capabilities. Design and build secure, high-performance distributed systems, contribute to feature threat modeling, and improve code quality through automated testing and thorough code reviews. Analyze and optimize query performance, troubleshoot complex production issues, and lead root cause analysis to improve reliability and the customer experience. Coordinate with engineering and product partners across teams to refine requirements, evaluate solutions through prototypes, manage delivery milestones and risks, and contribute to the product roadmap. Mentor engineers and improve development practices through technical guidance, clear documentation, and knowledge sharing.

- Experience delivering software features across technical design, implementation, testing, release, and production support.

- Experience writing automated tests, reviewing code, and using version control and continuous integration pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, or similar technologies for processing large volumes of data.

- Experience with query engine internals, such as query planning, execution strategies, indexing, or query optimization.

- Experience applying algorithms and data structures to diagnose and improve query execution performance.

- Experience coordinating technical delivery across teams, communicating tradeoffs, and mentoring engineers.

- Experience leading production incident investigations, postmortems, and reliability improvements.
