About this role

Job Description:

In order to support our security operations, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for a Business Security Manager (d/f/m)

As a Business Security Manager, you will serve as a strategic liaison between business units, cross-functional teams, and security teams. In this role, you will apply an engineering mindset to integrate security requirements throughout the entire Programme Life Cycle—from contract negotiation to development, production, and in-service support. You will ensure security risks and regulatory obligations, particularly those involving governmental classified information and defense contracts, are proactively addressed, embedded into operational workflows, or escalated to specialist teams when necessary.

This role is also available with reduced weekly hours and an adapted scope of tasks.

Our site is just a stone's throw away from Munich, the beautiful capital of Bavaria. Are you into sports and other outdoor activities? The Alps and Lake Starnberg are within an hour’s reach, offering a multitude of recreational options.

Our Benefits for You

- Fair Compensation & Extras: Attractive remuneration and individual additional benefits, such as company pension schemes, mobility offers (e.g., bike leasing), or corporate discounts with partner companies in accordance with our current guidelines.
- Time for You (and Your Loved Ones): 30 days of annual leave based on our collective agreement (35-hour week); work-life balance through flexible working hours (flextime), mobile working, part-time options, job sharing, and sabbatical opportunities.
- Growth Made Easy: Excellent professional development opportunities and international, group-wide career perspectives.
- Feel Good at Work: On-site company doctor; comprehensive health programs (sports courses, preventive care, etc.), canteen and cafeteria, and local childcare facilities at selected locations.
- Diversity Connects: Work in a diverse environment with more than 140 nationalities, where exchange, mutual support, and inclusion are part of our DNA.

Your tasks and responsibilities

- Act as the primary point of contact for security inquiries across business units, translating complex security requirements into actionable operational practices.
- Ensure security compliance, risk mitigation, and classified data protocols are seamlessly embedded across every phase of the Program Life Cycle.
- Apply structured, analytical problem-solving to evaluate technical processes, identify vulnerabilities, and harmonise security practices in close collaboration with business units to improve efficiency and compliance.
- Provide security expertise during initial contract negotiations and ongoing contract management, ensuring customer and supplier agreements align with national security frameworks and regulations.
- Elevate awareness of security obligations and risks within business activities.
- Partner with security teams to align business goals with country-specific regulatory environments and organizational standards.
- Identify synergies across programas and functions to streamline security workflows, share best practices, and support the delivery of security training and awareness programs.

Required Skills & Experience & Mindset

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Security Management, or a related technical or scientific discipline (additional professional certifications in security, risk management, or systems engineering are a plus).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in security management, technical programme management, or engineering business partnership roles.
- Deep, practical understanding of the Programme Life Cycle within complex manufacturing or engineering environments, combined with strong analytical problem-solving skills to address root causes.
- Proven experience handling governmental classified information, defense or military aerospace programmes, and national security protocols (preferably in an international context).
- Eligibility for a German security clearance (Geheimschutz) and familiarity with Airbus products, operational processes, and organizational structure.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic risk management skills, with the ability to thrive under pressure in cross-functional environments.
- Negotiation-level fluency in both German and English; knowledge of French or Spanish is an asset.
