The Opportunity

Associate Director – Family Office

You’ll lead the day-to-day management of a portfolio of complex trust and corporate structures for Family Office clients, supported by junior team members. Working independently and as a senior point of support for the team, you’ll guide Trust Relationship Managers (TRMs) in managing succession-planning structures for Global Private Banking (GPB) clients.

Your clients may include international families with large multi-entity structures and diverse asset types. You’ll build trusted relationships and work closely with GPB Global Relationship Managers, GPB Market Heads, internal specialists and external tax and legal advisers to deliver joined-up, high-quality relationship management.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll also help shape how we work, develop colleagues and provide direction on complex matters. Your leadership will be visible through the quality of decisions, the confidence of your colleagues and the outcomes delivered for clients.

- Ensure relationship management aligns with HSBC’s risk-management framework, the Jersey regulatory environment and relevant laws and regulations

- Identify and mitigate structure-specific risks through effective engagement with internal stakeholders and third-party tax and legal advisers

- Improve processes and ways of working to enhance client experience, operational efficiency and team effectiveness

- Contribute to team and business initiatives including projects, management activities, revenue oversight and key indicators (KIs)

- Act as an “A” authorised signatory, or equivalent, where required

To succeed in this role, you’ll ideally have:

- Bring strong knowledge and practical experience of trust and company administration at supervisory level

- Demonstrate experience managing complex client relationships and providing technical guidance to colleagues

- Apply in-depth knowledge of the Jersey regulatory environment including anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CFT) requirements

- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, using influencing and negotiation skills to deliver positive outcomes

- Show established people management capability including coaching, mentoring or developing colleagues

- Resolve a broad range of technical issues with accuracy and strong attention to detail

- Manage competing priorities by planning work effectively, tracking progress and meeting internal and external deadlines

- Exercise sound judgement while working accurately under pressure in a regulated environment

It would be advantageous to hold:

- A Table 4 qualification, or equivalent authorisation.

- A STEP Diploma or another relevant qualification in trust and company administration.
