Your career opportunity

Hilda 2.0 is a modernisation programme migrating a portfolio of legacy HILDA applications from on-premises into a modular, cloud-native Azure architecture. As a Data Engineer you’ll build and evolve the data platform that supports Israeli regulatory and financial reporting for internal HSBC users including month-end regulatory reporting, General Ledger, Central Bank returns, income and expenditure and cost centre reporting. You’ll work across Azure SQL, Azure Data Factory, Databricks and a reporting layer built in Power BI and SSRS with changes delivered through Azure DevOps pipelines on Terraform-provisioned infrastructure.

What you’ll do

- Design, write and optimise production T-SQL across ODS and DWH layers in Azure SQL

- Model and evolve warehouse structures including dimensions, facts, historisation, soft-delete and metadata columns

- Build and maintain Azure Data Factory pipelines for ingestion and orchestration including parameterisation, retries and monitoring

- Develop and maintain Power BI reports and semantic models including DAX, Power Query / M, row-level security and paginated reports

- Build and maintain SSRS reports and migrate existing SSRS and paginated reporting into the target platform

- Analyse and migrate legacy SSIS packages and on-premises SQL Server logic into Azure-native pipelines and procedures

- Maintain database code in SSDT projects and deliver schema changes via DACPAC through Azure DevOps CI/CD across DEV, SIT, UAT and PROD

- Develop Databricks notebooks and jobs using SQL and PySpark for data warehouse and analytics workloads

What you need to have to succeed in this role

- Bring substantial commercial experience in data engineering, BI or database development with expert SQL and T-SQL

- Apply strong performance tuning across execution plans, indexing and partitioning

- Demonstrate proven MSSQL and Azure SQL experience including schema design and database-first development using SSDT and DACPAC deployments

- Use established data warehousing approaches including ODS, staging and DWH layering, dimensional modelling and incremental and full load patterns

- Build and support Azure Data Factory pipelines including datasets, linked services, triggers, parameterisation and monitoring

- Develop production Power BI solutions including semantic or tabular modelling, DAX, Power Query / M, workspaces and dataset refresh

- Build and maintain SSRS reports and work with SSIS packages including debugging and migration
