About this opportunity:

Ericsson R&D uses the IT Security Assessment and Certification (ITSAC) process to ensure IT solutions meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements. Preparing assessment material—such as IT Criticality Assessments (ITCA), CIA classifications, IT Security Assessments (ITSA), and ITSAC documentation—can involve many manual steps.

This thesis will design and build an ITSAC Automation Agent (IAA) to help solution teams prepare selected assessment artefacts. The goal is a working prototype tested on pilot IT solutions, not just a conceptual design. It will combine workflow orchestration and specialized AI agents, while using human review, security controls, and approved tools to support responsible automation.

What you will do:

- Study Ericsson’s ITSAC, ITSA, and ITCA processes, internal requirements, and relevant security and AI-governance standards.
- Design and implement a prototype that supports selected assessment tasks, such as CIA/ITCA analysis and drafting ITSA or ITSAC material.
- Integrate approved AI tools with selected source-code, pipeline, and document systems, such as GitLab and EriDoc/SharePoint.
- Implement safeguards such as input/output filtering, access controls, logging, and human approval for changes.
- Demonstrate the prototype on one or more R&D pilot solutions and evaluate its accuracy, consistency, security alignment, and effect on effort and quality.
- Document the architecture, results, risks, limitations, and recommendations for future development.

The skills you bring:

- You are pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- You have solid programming skills in Python, Java, or a similar language.
- You are interested in cybersecurity, secure software engineering, AI/LLMs, and workflow automation.

- Familiarity with Git/GitLab, CI/CD, security assessments, or n8n is an advantage.
- You work systematically and independently, and communicate clearly in English.
- This thesis is suitable for 1-2 students.
