This role ensures accurate dimensional inspection, maintains inspection and calibration equipment, and records traceable digital inspection data within MES and QMS systems to support production readiness, quality compliance, and overall SPQDC (Safety, People, Quality, Delivery, Cost) performance in a precision manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform visual, mechanical, and dimensional inspections of manufactured components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, inspection plans, and controlled procedures.
- Operate coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to verify dimensional characteristics and confirm product conformity to defined requirements.
- Set up inspection equipment, execute existing CMM programs, and evaluate measurement results against established acceptance criteria.
- Interpret engineering drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and apply applicable inspection requirements accurately.
- Accurately record, organize, and maintain traceable inspection data and records within applicable MES and QMS systems.
- Identify, document, and communicate nonconformances or out-of-specification conditions to Quality and Engineering for review and disposition.
- Support nonconforming product containment activities, inspection investigations, and corrective actions as assigned.
- Manage calibration activities for inspection and measurement equipment, including tracking due dates, maintaining calibration records, and coordinating internal or external calibrations.
- Perform scheduled weekly and monthly preventive maintenance on inspection equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Verify equipment calibration status and suitability for use before performing inspection activities and promptly identify and escalate equipment issues.
- Support inspection equipment readiness by assisting with troubleshooting and contributing to continuous improvement of measurement and inspection processes.
- Support PPAP, MSA, and First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements through execution of inspections and accurate documentation, as applicable.
- Participate in 5S initiatives, safety programs, and continuous improvement activities within the manufacturing and inspection areas.

- Support and promote compliance with all quality requirements within the QMS and applicable industry regulations, including AS9100, as they pertain to the role.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience performing visual, mechanical, and dimensional inspections in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to operate coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) to verify product conformity.
- Proficiency in using mechanical and visual inspection instruments and precision measurement tools.
- Strong blueprint reading skills and the ability to interpret engineering drawings, dimensional tolerances, and GD&T guidelines.
- Ability to accurately record and maintain traceable inspection data in MES and QMS systems.
- Capability to identify, document, and communicate nonconformances and out-of-specification conditions.
- Experience managing or supporting calibration activities for inspection and measurement equipment.
- Familiarity with PPAP, MSA, and AS9102 First Article Inspection (FAI) processes and documentation.
- Understanding of AS9100 quality system requirements as they apply to inspection and quality control roles.
- AA/AS degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a university degree in a related field, or in the absence of a degree, 4 years of relevant experience.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during inspection activities and safely lift up to 30 pounds.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
