About this role
About Us
We are a boutique AI firm founded in 2020, headquartered in Dublin with an AI Lab in Milan. We are not a consultancy and not a software house. We are an AI firm with one focus: financial services.
We co-create AI agents with our clients and run them in production inside regulated financial institutions. Today more than 50 of our AI agents are live, and our team has filed 42 AI patents. Our AI is responsible and pragmatic: governed by design, built into real workflows, measurable in value, and always under the client's control.
We are a lean, technical-first team: 23 Forward-Deployed AI Engineers, including 3 Ph.D.s, and a leadership team of 3. We are growing, and most of our engineers are early in their careers. As our work with our largest client grows, we need a senior, permanent presence in Dublin, close to the client every day. That is this role.
The Role
Our largest client is a leading Dublin-based asset manager with around 200 people across ten departments. Our engineering team in Milan builds AI and data solutions across the client's business.
As Engagement Manager, you are our senior presence in Dublin. You get to know the client inside out, build trusted relationships across every department, and turn business needs into clear priorities for our engineers. You own the relationship end to end: from the first conversation with a department head, to agreeing what we build, to making sure it lands.
You report to the CEO and work as a peer of our Head of Engineering. The principle is simple: you set the priorities, deciding what we build and in what order. The Head of Engineering decides who builds it and how. Timelines are agreed between the two of you. The Head of Engineering leads the team and the technical side: IT, architecture, data and integrations. You lead the relationship and the business side: investments, operations, risk, compliance, distribution and senior management. You work across the whole organisation to bring the client's point of view in, but you don't line-manage the team.
The role combines three disciplines:
- Relationship management: building trust with senior stakeholders across a large organisation, and handling sensitive situations with tact and firmness.
- Asset management expertise: knowing how a fund manager works, and its regulatory framework, well enough to be the domain voice in every conversation.
- Delivery leadership: turning business needs into clear priorities, agreeing scope and timelines, and coaching a junior technical team on the domain and on client work.
Nobody arrives strong in all three. We're looking for someone solid in the first two and eager to grow into the third.
Who You Are
- 3+ years of experience in the funds industry, ideally in Dublin: at a management company, fund administrator or depositary, or advising the sector
- A deep understanding of how an asset manager works, including its regulatory framework (UCITS, AIFs, Central Bank of Ireland)
- A track record of managing senior stakeholders in large organisations and handling sensitive situations with tact and firmness
- Close experience working with technology or data teams: enough to be credible with engineers and to judge what is realistic
- You own outcomes the client can measure, not just tasks, and you're comfortable saying no to a client when needed
- Clear, confident written and spoken English
- Nice to have: Italian; exposure to AI, data or analytics projects; experience in a consulting firm or a fast-growing company
What You'll Do
Relationship
- Own the relationship across all the client's departments: investments, operations, risk, compliance, distribution, technology and senior management
- Build, and keep current, a clear map of the client: who decides, who influences, what each department needs and where we can add the most value. This is your first task.
- Decide with the CEO which departments need daily attention and which need a periodic check-in
Priorities and Scope
- Translate business needs into well-defined priorities and requirements for the engineering team, and explain technical work back to business stakeholders
- Agree scope, priorities and timelines with the client together with the Head of Engineering. Technical solutions and delivery dates are always agreed jointly before they are committed to the client.
- Review priorities with the Head of Engineering at a fixed weekly meeting, rather than sending requests directly to individual engineers
Team and Growth
- Coach our junior engineers on the asset management domain and on working with senior client stakeholders
- Give structured input, through our performance review process, on the engineers working on your client. The Head of Engineering owns their reviews.
- Spot new opportunities for Gemmo to add value and help turn them into new work
- Spend time in Milan regularly to work with the team in person
Your First Months
- Shadowing: you join client meetings with the CEO and the Head of Engineering, and learn the people, the departments and the history of the relationship.
- Co-leading: you lead business meetings, and the Head of Engineering steps in on technical topics.
- Ownership: you own the business relationship as described above.
This is not a sales or account-support role. From the start you are building towards full ownership of the relationship, not supporting someone else's.
How We Work
AI is how we work. You'll use AI tools to prepare client material, keep the client map current and draft requirements. You don't need to code. Our main tools are Jira, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, Claude and ChatGPT.
Location and Schedule
- Based in Dublin, on site at the client for most of the week
- In Milan at least once a month to work with the team in person
- Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:30 Irish time
Salary and Benefits
- Gross annual salary: €70,000–90,000, depending on experience, reviewed every year
- Contract: permanent, full-time, employed by Gemmo Limited (Ireland)
- Performance bonus: up to 10% of base salary
- Private health insurance for you and your family
- 25 days of annual leave, plus Irish public holidays
- All travel and accommodation for trips to Milan covered by Gemmo
- High usage limits on frontier AI models and agents, with new releases available from day one
- A 14-inch MacBook Pro and the equipment you need to work well
Selection Process
We keep it fast, respectful and transparent. We won't ask about your current or past salary.
- First interview with the CEO (30 min): your motivation, background and availability.
- Domain interview with an expert (45 min): how an asset manager works and its regulatory framework, through a realistic business case.
- Interview with our Head of Engineering (45 min): how you'd work together, with a case: a department head asks for a new solution on a tight deadline. How do you handle it?
- Meet Gemmo (30 min): once we want you on the team, we tell you about Gemmo and what it can mean for your career. If you reach this step, you're on our shortlist.
- References and offer: we speak with two references you choose. Selected candidates receive an offer that stays open for 5 working days.
