Software Engineering Team Lead

We're looking for a passionate Software Engineering Team Lead to lead the engineering teams behind our eCommerce platform. You'll make key technical decisions and help evolve a complex, high-traffic, multi-brand platform.

About the Role

You'll lead our Storefront and Cart, Checkout & Promotions squads, partnering with the Development Manager as the senior technical voice for a distributed team across Ireland and Vietnam.

You'll help accelerate iterative delivery while supporting our 2027 Gifting Ceremony initiative.

Core Responsibilities

- Technical leadership: Own technical delivery across both squads, make timely engineering decisions and remove blockers.

- Solution design: Develop practical technical solutions for evolving requirements, working closely with Product.

- Stakeholder collaboration: Act as the primary technical contact for Product, Trading, QA and other teams.

- Team leadership: Lead distributed engineering teams, line-manage senior engineers and support their development.

- Platform reliability: Own checkout stability, production incident response and readiness for peak trading periods.

- Engineering excellence: Improve SDLC, CI/CD, testing and Agile practices to accelerate delivery.

- Hands-on contribution: Stay involved in architecture, technical design, code reviews and complex engineering changes

Skills Required

- Proven experience leading engineering teams and making independent technical decisions.

- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

- Ability to navigate ambiguity and evolving business requirements.

- Experience managing engineers and collaborating across time zones.

- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.

- Deep expertise in Vue.js/Nuxt or Magento 2/PHP , with the ability to provide technical leadership across both.

- Strong knowledge of SDLC, CI/CD, automated testing and production incident management.

- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.

Desirable Experience

- Checkout, payment integrations and promotional platforms.

- Server-side rendering (SSR) and Core Web Vitals.

- AI-assisted software development.

- High-traffic eCommerce platforms and peak trading readiness

Platform: GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes on AWS, CloudFront, Varnish, Grafana and Jira.
