About Plug

Plug is the marketplace for used electric vehicles. Consumers get an instant cash offer backed by battery-health data, and dealers across the US bid in real time on that inventory. Former Tesla executives founded Plug in 2023. We’ve facilitated $150M in EV sales and raised a $20M Series A led by Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Why Plug

- You’ll own a piece of the biggest infrastructure opportunity in automotive.
- You’ll work on a platform built exclusively for EVs, with nothing adapted from legacy automotive.
- You’ll be part of an AI-native company. We’re rethinking how work gets done at a fundamental level.
- You’ll work directly with operators who have scaled multi-billion dollar businesses in automotive, EV, and marketplaces.
- You’ll have real ownership, high autonomy, and a direct line to company outcomes.

The Opportunity

As Marketplace Operations Manager, you will lead and scale an operations function built for the way modern teams operate: lean, data-informed, and increasingly automated. Marketplace Operations owns every vehicle’s journey through the marketplace, end to end, from commercial intake and listing to payment, title, and delivery. As transaction volume grows quickly, you’ll scale the operation while increasing speed and accuracy and lowering cost per vehicle. We’re looking for a player-coach who gets excited about running an AI-native operations team. You’ll lead the team across Title, Payments, Listings, Logistics, and Commercial, step in to do the work when needed, and use AI and automation to grow output without simply adding headcount. You’ll also partner with Finance, CX, Product, and Program Management to remove blockers and keep every transaction moving.

What You’ll Do

- Run the Transaction Engine Day to Day. Own the daily operating rhythm across Title, Payments, Listings, Logistics, and Commercial so every deal closes clean, every dollar reconciles, and every vehicle moves on time.
- Be the escalation point for stuck deals, missed pickups, title rejections, and payment exceptions, using data and AI tools to spot issues early and clear blockers before they reach customers or leadership.
- Coordinate handoffs between functions (intake to listing, pickup to delivery, payment to title) so the transaction moves as one automated flow, not separate queues. Lead and Develop an AI-Native Team
- Directly manage the function owners across Title, Payments, Listings, Logistics, and Commercial. Set clear goals, run 1:1s, and give the feedback that helps each person grow into a true owner of their area.
- Act as a player-coach, stepping in to do the work yourself when the team is at capacity or someone is out of office.
- Build a team culture where AI is the default starting point, coaching each owner to automate their own repetitive work and focus on judgment calls and exceptions.
- Write onboarding playbooks and SOPs, with AI tools built into the workflows, so new hires reach full productivity quickly as the team grows.

Drive Marketplace Performance

- Drive the core metrics for each function: title turnaround and rejection rate, days to pay or collect and payment accuracy, pickup SLA, on-time delivery, and inventory turn time.
- Get vehicles listed on auction accurately and efficiently, with complete, high-quality listings that go live on time.
- Work with Product and Engineering to find, build, and launch AI and automation across the transaction (reconciliation, DMV paperwork, dispatch, listing QC) so volume can grow while speed and accuracy improve.
- Work cross-functionally with teams including Finance, CX, and Program Management to surface trends in the WBR, find root causes, and ship the fixes.

What You’ll Bring

- 7+ years in operations, including experience scaling marketplace operations through rapid growth, ideally at a high-growth startup, where you built processes that held up as volume multiplied.
- A player-coach mindset. You lead from the front and are comfortable doing the work yourself when the team needs it.
- Excitement about running an AI-native team, with hands-on experience using AI tools and automation to scale operations, not just headcount.
- Strong command of operational metrics, with a track record of improving turn time, speed, and accuracy.
- A process builder who writes SOPs, finds bottlenecks, and fixes root causes instead of patching symptoms.
