Your Recipe for Impact — What You’ll Do

As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead complex, high-impact projects and programs that advance Whataburger’s strategic priorities and deliver meaningful business results. You’ll partner with leaders across the organization to align teams, manage risks, and drive execution from planning through delivery. Success in this role means turning strategy into action, fostering collaboration, and ensuring projects create lasting value for our Family Members, customers, and business.

Day-to-Day Ingredients — Responsibilities

As a Senior Project Manager, you will:

- Lead complex projects and programs that support strategic business objectives.
- Develop project plans, timelines, resource strategies, and governance structures.
- Drive execution across cross-functional teams and stakeholder groups.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate project risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Facilitate decision-making and alignment with senior leaders and business partners.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
- Track benefits realization and ensure delivery of expected business outcomes.
- Lead organizational change management efforts to support adoption and readiness.
- Provide clear, concise updates for executives and key stakeholders.
- Promote project management, best practices and continuous process improvement.
- Coach, develop, and manage performance for assigned team members.
- Support succession planning, talent development, and workload prioritization.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Table — Required Experience

As a Senior Project Manager, you must have:

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 6+ years of project and/or program management experience.
- Proven experience leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
- Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
- Demonstrated success managing risks, dependencies, and competing priorities.
- Experience driving organizational change and business adoption.
- Ability to influence decisions and build alignment across diverse teams.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and governance practices.

Extra Toppings — Desired Experience

As a Senior Project Manager, we prefer you to have:

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent credential.
- Experience managing enterprise-wide programs and project portfolios.
- Background leading transformational or large-scale change initiatives.
- Experience within restaurant, retail, hospitality, or consumer-facing industries.
- Proven ability to lead and develop project management team members.
- Experience implementing process improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Advanced skills in resource planning, portfolio management, and benefits realization.

Where & How You’ll Work

This role is based at the San Antonio Home Office, working on‑site Monday through Thursday with remote flexibility on Fridays. In this role, you’ll have strong collaboration with leadership, across cross-functional teams, and with external partners to align capabilities with restaurant realities. The work environment is fast‑paced and requires sound judgment, strategic thinking, and strong collaboration skills. Full‑time availability is required, with occasional extended hours based on business needs, along with occasional travel to properties, project sites, and external meetings. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of the San Antonio Home Office.
