The Student, People Experience & Operations serves as a welcoming first point of contact for employees and leaders with general HR questions. With guidance from the People Experience & Operations team, you will provide timely, clear and accurate answers using approved HR resources, help employees find the information they need, and connect more complex or sensitive inquiries with the appropriate HR team. This role offers an opportunity to build practical HR knowledge and communication skills while contributing to a positive employee experience.

You will be responsible for:

- Serve as a first point of contact for general HR inquiries, responding in a friendly, professional, and timely manner.
- Listen carefully and ask clarifying questions to understand what employees and leaders need.
- Answer routine questions about HR policies, programs, and available services using approved information and guidance from the team.
- Help employees locate relevant HR information, frequently asked questions and resources on internal sites and digital tools.
- Recognize inquiries that require specialist knowledge or involve sensitive information and refer them promptly to the appropriate HR contact.
- Work with HR colleagues to confirm information when an answer is unclear rather than providing unverified advice.
- Follow up on inquiries so employees know who is helping them and what to expect next.
- Share recurring questions and employee feedback with the team and suggest ways to make HR information and responses clearer.
- Handle employee inquiries with discretion, protect confidential information, and contribute to a respectful, service-focused team environment.

Required Skills & Experience:

- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A service-focused mindset and a genuine interest in helping people and learning about HR.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening and the ability to explain information clearly.
- Ability to build positive working relationships and collaborate with colleagues.
- Good judgement, attention to detail, and discretion when handling confidential information, including knowing when to ask for help.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance incoming inquiries, follow up reliably and learn new digital tools.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

- Experience helping others through customer service, campus activities, volunteering or a previous work placement is an asset; prior HR work experience is not required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools, such as Outlook, Word, and Teams, is an asset.
