Who we are looking for:

We are currently searching for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to be based out of our Harvey, IL location, just 20 miles south of downtown Chicago. This individual will perform a variety of cash application duties, ensuring that all remittance data is applied to customer accounts in accordance with and consistent with all generally accepted accounting principles, SOX requirements, and Atkore International policies and procedures.

What youll do:

- Apply payments to customer ledger details.

- Create chargebacks and other deductions consistent with customer payment advice.

- Create and apply remittances using spreadsheets for auto application

- Interact with credit analysts and deduction personnel to assist in resolving disputes.

- Contact customers to resolve issues with remittance advice and their payments.

- Assist in monthly closing activities.

- Review and utilize bank imaging in daily cash applications.

- Support bank and system cash balancing.

- Scan checks received directly to the bank for deposit.

- Performs other duties as assigned.

What youll bring:

- Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Management preferred

- 3+ years of accounting/office experience in a multi-facility environment; in Accounts Receivable preferred

- Effective verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to handle high volume transactions in a fast-paced environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness

- Experience using JD Edwards or a comparable ERP system

- Experience using Excel, Word and Outlook

- Self-starter and problem solver

- Excellent attention to detail

- Good organizational skills and ability to consistently meet all deadlines

Within 3 months youll:

- Complete your Atkore immersion program

- Gain an understanding of the team and the procedures the team owns

Within 6 months youll:

- Be proficient at processing basic cash application using JD Edwards

- Develop relationships with internal partners needed for success in the day-to-day position

- Begin learning more advanced processes in JDE regarding cash application

Within 12 months youll:

- Be fully trained and functional in your position

- Be able to communicate efficiently with customers and resolve any payment questions that arise

- Be fluent in Atkore core values

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay for this position is $ 48,880 - $67,210 . Placement in the range depends on several factors including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, relevant experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs and may change over time. Other compensation may include, but not limited to, overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives.
