The job
You are PPG Quality's on-site presence at a busy automotive plant: the first person our workforce sees each morning and the person plant leadership calls when they need something done today. You run check-in, orientation and interviews, keep the roster accurate, and own a weekly compliance audit that shows the client exactly how we're performing. This is a hands-on, people-first role for someone who is calm under pressure, keeps clean records, and moves comfortably between the plant floor and the front office.
Additionally, your duties include routine safety observations, PPE compliance, safety-training verification, near-miss reporting, incident documentation, and immediate escalation of unsafe conditions. You have responsibility for verifying hiring approvals, required screening, orientation clearance, safety training, and client-specific eligibility requirements before anyone reports for duty.
You will have responsibility to document client feedback, follow-up on complaints, escalation of service concerns, and regular communication with PPG Quality Operations leadership.
What you'll do
- Run day-shift check-in at the start of each shift; track attendance and no-shows; coordinate same-day backfill with the PPG branch
- Serve as the daily point of contact for plant supervisors and leadership; attend the client's daily staffing huddle
- Schedule and support candidate interviews with client supervisors
- Deliver new-hire orientation and complete onboarding paperwork for every new start
- Own the weekly compliance audit: reconcile hours against plant records, confirm onboarding and safety-training completion, verify roster integrity, and report open-requisition aging
- Deliver a weekly performance scorecard to the client
- Resolve day-to-day workforce issues and escalate per PPG process
- Maintain the shift handoff log for the evening coordinator
- Communicate in English and Spanish with workers, supervisors and candidates
What you bring
- Fluent English and Spanish, spoken and written (required)
- 2+ years in manufacturing, staffing or on-site coordination, recruiting, or a shift/team lead role
- Steady under conflict and comfortable having direct conversations on a plant floor
- Organized, accurate with documentation, and comfortable in spreadsheets and an ATS or HRIS
- Reliable transportation and the ability to work on-site at the plant every scheduled shift
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen per client requirements
