About this role
Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.
As an Acceleration Kernel Developer at Tenstorrent, you will play a crucial role in optimizing low-level workloads, kernel development, and enhancing our software's performance for machine learning applications. You will work closely with a team of highly skilled engineers to ensure that our software operates at peak efficiency, delivering high-quality results to our clients and users.
This role is on-site, based out of Toronto, Canada.
Who You Are
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Science, or a related field, with strong proficiency in C/C++ and Python.
- Strong understanding of algorithm implementation and low-level optimization, with experience developing parallel algorithms on CPUs or working with GPU acceleration.
- Familiar with machine learning frameworks and concepts, as well as debugging, performance profiling, and optimization tools. Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure, such as AWS, is a plus.
- A self-motivated, detail-oriented problem solver who can analyze complex technical issues, communicate clearly, and work both independently and collaboratively.
What We Need
- Contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of kernels and kernel libraries for machine learning and high-performance computing applications, including tensor compute and tensor data-movement kernels.
- Analyze and optimize low-level code, profile workloads, and address performance bottlenecks, with a strong focus on tensor optimization and software efficiency.
- Collaborate with machine learning engineers and data scientists to integrate optimized kernels into frameworks and pipelines, and write unit tests and debug issues to ensure reliability.
- Develop infrastructure to analyze functional-test and performance-test data, and document code, APIs, and best practices to support collaboration.
What You Will Learn
- How tensor compute and data movement affect kernel performance in machine learning and high-performance computing workloads.
- Techniques for profiling, debugging, and optimizing low-level code and parallel algorithms.
- How optimized kernels and low-level routines are integrated into machine learning frameworks and pipelines through cross-functional engineering collaboration.
- Approaches to testing kernel-level software, analyzing performance data, and evaluating new developments in kernel development and tensor optimization.
Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.
