Trueline is seeking an Operations Manager – Painting & Specialty Finishes to lead estimating, scheduling, and daily operational coordination for high-end residential painting projects.

This position offers the opportunity to work directly with ownership, support experienced field teams, and improve the systems that keep multiple projects moving. We’re looking for someone who understands the painting trade and enjoys the planning, technology, and business management side of construction.

The role is primarily based in the Reno office, with responsibility for coordinating approximately 6–8 crews. Established foremen and field personnel are already in place, allowing this manager to focus on estimating, workforce planning, project information, and operational improvements.

What You’ll Do

- Manage daily operational coordination across multiple residential painting and specialty finishing projects.
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project documents to prepare or coordinate estimates and bids.
- Develop labor and material estimates based on project scope, preparation requirements, production rates, and finish specifications.
- Coordinate crew schedules, workforce allocation, and project priorities with foremen and field leadership.
- Keep drawings, schedules, budgets, changes, and job information organized and accessible.
- Work with administrative staff to strengthen project documentation and communication between the office and field.
- Use estimating, scheduling, and construction management tools to improve visibility and follow-through.
- Identify workflow improvements and build consistent processes that support efficient operations.
- Work directly with ownership and gradually assume greater responsibility for daily business operations.
- Complete the applicable California and Nevada contractor licensing requirements and serve as the company’s qualifying employee.

What You’ll Bring

- At least four years of qualifying painting trade experience, with the ability to document experience supporting California and Nevada contractor licensing eligibility.
- A strong understanding of painting methods, surface preparation, materials, labor requirements, and project costs.
- Experience in painting estimating, project management, production management, operations, or a related leadership role.
- Ability to read construction plans and interpret project specifications.
- Experience coordinating multiple projects, crews, schedules, and competing priorities.
- Strong computer skills and comfort working with office systems and construction software.
- Clear communication, sound judgment, and consistent administrative follow-through.
- Willingness to work primarily onsite in Reno, with occasional travel to Tahoe-area projects.
- Willingness to obtain the applicable contractor qualifications and serve as the company’s qualifying employee.

Existing California or Nevada contractor licensing is welcome but is not required at the time of hire. Licensing eligibility will be verified during the hiring process.

Experience That Will Stand Out

- Luxury residential or custom home painting.
- Cabinet finishing, wood staining, refinishing, or specialty coatings.
- Independent preparation of painting estimates, takeoffs, and bids.
- Bluebeam, QuickBooks, or other estimating and construction management software.
- Improving scheduling, estimating, documentation, or job-tracking systems.
- Working directly with an owner in a smaller construction business.
- Previous ownership or management of a painting company.

We welcome experienced painting operations managers, estimator/project managers, production managers, and former business owners. Painting supervisors who have developed strong estimating, scheduling, and office skills are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Benefits

- $135,000–$150,000 annual base salary.
- Administrative bonus opportunity.
- Company vehicle and gas card.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
