In everything we do, we’re committed to artistic integrity, transparency, and entrepreneurship.

Sony Music Entertainment is a member of the Sony family of global companies.

As Architect for the Global Technology Global Sales Reporting group, you will be responsible for the technical design, implementation and ongoing operation of our global SAMIS Data Warehouse / DataLake. Large volumes of sales consumption data are ingested into this environment from various up-stream systems within cloud-based architectures. Users from various department gain strategic business insights from this data using the SAMIS Frontend.

What you'll do:

- Transform the SAMIS architectural strategy into working code: Own the implementation of the end-to-end data lifecycle (Ingestion, Processing, Storage, APIs, Enablement, Security/Sharing) . You will personally write critical path code for new ingestion connectors and API services.

- Code and enforce SAMIS development standards: Write the first versions of SAMIS coding templates, CI/CD workflows, and data quality frameworks. You will actively participate in design reviews and critical code review, submitting Pull Requests comments and alternative code snippets.

- Deliver automated reporting by building the data marts: Engage directly with business teams and other tech leads (Operation, Sales) to understand their KPIs. Design, build, and optimize the actual SAMIS aggregate tables and materialized views that power their dashboards, ensuring sub-second query performance.

- Align SAMIS releases with source upstream and downstream system: Work with System Owners, but at the API/Schema level. You will personally inspect upstream data workflows, write schema-validation scripts, and build automated alerting for when source systems introduce breaking changes.

- Perform hands-on design and code walkthroughs: Sit with architects and project leads, reviewing not just high-level designs but actual Python/SQL/Java code/Agentic AI Pluginy. You will refactor problematic modules and help junior engineers through pair-programming sessions on complex SAMIS transformation logic.

- Run Targeted POCs for SAMIS: Own the end-to-end execution of POCs for new SAMIS components and features (e.g., GoldenGate, Data Flow, Autonomous DB, New Lakehouse developments). You will set up the test environments, write the integration code, benchmark performance, and present your technical findings back to the Senior Leads for a final review.

- Run weekly SAMIS technical working sessions: Facilitate deep-dive meetings with leads and architects, actively contribute code-level feedback, whiteboard solutions, and write proof-of-concept scripts on the fly to resolve technical issues.

- Code the SAMIS release management strategy: Coordinate with DevOps to build and maintain the actual CI/CD YAML pipelines. You will define the deployment strategies and personally oversee production releases, performing rollbacks when necessary.

- Get hands-on with OCI infrastructure stack: Partner with the OCI CloudOps team, debug Spark cluster configurations, rewrite inefficient SQL queries, and tune AIDP to cut pipeline runtimes

- Implement InfoSec requirements in the codebase: Collaborate with InfoSec, but then translate their policies into actual implementations, writing row-level security filters, setting up encryption key rotations, and embedding dynamic data masking directly into SAMIS API queries.

- Drive SAMIS cost optimization through code refactoring: Work with Tech Leads and OCICloudOps, rewriting expensive table scans, implementing partition pruning strategies, and moving cold data to cheaper storage tiers directly via code, while reporting monthly savings metrics from a technical level

- Help build SAMIS operational resilience from the ground up: Leverage your hands-on production experience to design and implement the full operational framework for SAMIS. Monitoring dashboards (e.g., Grafana/OCI Monitoring), define granular alerting rules based on pipeline SLAs, document comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures for recurring failure scenarios, and work on the automation fixes.

Who you are:

- OCI ecosystem: Autonomous DB, AI Data Platform, Data Integration, Unified Catalog, Analytic Views, ORDS, Data Flow, Object Storage, OCI Events/Functions

- Lakehouse: Medallion (Bronze/Silver/Gold) with Iceberg and Delta Uniform —ACID, time travel, schema evolution, and compaction

- Data modeling: Star schema, snowflake, and dimensional modeling for analytical performance

- Lakehouse strategies: Batch vs. incremental ingestion, partitioning, lifecycle management, and handling late-arriving data

- Processing & orchestration: ETL/ELT tools, Spark (batch + streaming), and exposure to Agentic AI Workflows for self-healing pipelines

- Languages: Expert in Python, PySpark, SQL ; comfortable with performance tuning in Spark UI

- APIs: RESTful API design, ORDS, authentication (OAuth/API keys), and data integration patterns

- Non-functional: Proven track record in performance/stress testing , identifying and fixing bottlenecks under load

- DevOps: CI/CD pipeline design (YAML-based) and Git branching/release strategies for safe, auditable deployments

What we give you:

- You join an inclusive, collaborative and global community where you have the opportunity to channel your passion every day

- A modern office environment designed to foster productivity, creativity, and teamwork empowering you to bring your best

- An attractive and comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life & disability coverage, and 401K + employer matching
