About the Position

The Director of IT Project Management leads the IT Project Management Office (PMO) and the portfolio of IT-governed projects, setting the standards, governance, resource planning, and reporting that make delivery predictable and aligned with company priorities. The role partners with functions across Kenco to align project processes, governance, and reporting, leads and develops the IT Project Management team, and personally owns one or two strategic initiatives that improve cross-functional alignment or establish new operating models.

Functions

- Provide strategic direction for the IT PMO team and the portfolio of IT-governed projects.
- Establish and improve standard IT project-management practices: intake, prioritization, planning, governance, change control, risk and issue management, documentation, and closure.
- Align processes, tollgates, handoffs, decision rights, and escalation paths with Project Management, Solutions & Design, Operations, Finance, Change Management, Product Management, and IT delivery teams, removing gaps, duplication, and unnecessary complexity without losing accountability.
- Lead portfolio intake, prioritization, and sequencing based on strategic value, complexity, risk, funding, dependencies, and resource demand.
- Maintain capacity and demand forecasts, anticipate constrained skills and competing priorities, and recommend staffing, sourcing, and sequencing trade-offs.
- Define concise portfolio KPIs covering portfolio health, delivery predictability, schedule and budget performance, resource capacity, risk, governance compliance, and business outcomes.
- Deliver decision-oriented reporting to IT leadership and stakeholders that names material changes, emerging constraints, required decisions, and accountable owners.
- Lead, coach, and develop Project Managers and PMO staff, set clear expectations, and assign projects by priority, complexity, required capability, availability, and development opportunity.
- Personally lead one or two high-impact initiatives where Director involvement improves cross-functional alignment or establishes new operating models.
- Provide governance and executive oversight for high-visibility or high-risk IT initiatives, maintain portfolio-level visibility into risks, issues, and dependencies, and intervene when scope, schedule, budget, quality, or readiness are at risk.
- Own portfolio-level financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, spend visibility, billing compliance, and escalation of material variances.
- Promote consistent use of approved methodologies, tools, templates, and reporting definitions, and benchmark PMO performance to raise delivery quality and capacity.
- Build trusted relationships with IT and business leaders, project sponsors, vendors, and delivery teams to resolve competing priorities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- 10 or more years of experience managing IT related projects.
- Experience delivering Software Integration projects with budgets of more than $1 million.
- 3 or more years of direct people leadership, including coaching, performance management, and talent development.
- Experience leading PMO strategy, governance, portfolio management, and delivery standards.
- Experience with capacity planning, demand forecasting, portfolio prioritization, dependency management, and resource trade-off decisions.
- Experience building executive reporting and KPIs for portfolio performance, resource capacity, financial health, and delivery risk.
- Strong financial and business acumen, including project budgets, forecasts, and business cases.
- Experience with multiple project-management methodologies and portfolio platforms such as Smartsheet, Jira, and ServiceNow.
- Logistics experience strongly preferred, ideally third-party logistics, warehousing, transportation, or customer onboarding.
- PMP certification or equivalent preferred; program, portfolio, PMO, Agile, Lean, or change-management certification is a plus.
