Overview

Paramount Global is seeking a Technical Automation Engineer / Architect to join the Technology Operations team, focused on automation, scripting, and broadcast systems integration.

You will integrate broadcast infrastructure with Skyline DataMiner and other key applications. You will also create intelligent automation using AI. This will help reduce manual operational tasks. You will use your broadcast engineering knowledge along with your experience in software automation and systems architecture. Your job will include supporting the design and operation of broadcast systems.

Responsibilities

- Develop automation frameworks and remediation workflows. These will enhance operational efficiency, reliability, and scalability in broadcast and technology environments. The automation will enable systems to recover on their own, reducing the need for manual intervention.

- Develop scripts and services using tools such as Python, PowerShell, and Bash to support system deployments, configuration management, monitoring, and operational processes.

- Integrate playout systems, signal distribution, encoding, and media processing platforms with monitoring and automation platforms such as Skyline DataMiner.

- Design and deploy monitoring, observability, and alerting dashboards that provide operational visibility across broadcast workflows in real time.

- Implement monitoring solutions driven by system events to detect faults across video transport , playout, and distribution systems.

- Configure and maintain alerting policies, thresholds, escalation workflows, and alarm correlation to improve root cause analysis and reduce operational noise.

- Develop integrations using REST APIs, SNMP, webhooks, and telemetry feeds to ingest operational data into monitoring and automation platforms.

- Build middleware, connectors, and data pipelines that normalize broadcast system telemetry for monitoring dashboards and operational tools.

- Configure and extend Skyline DataMiner connectors and elements, including custom monitoring and data models.

- Build dashboards, visualizations, and alarms within DataMiner based on complex engineering architectures.

- Optimize monitoring capabilities to improve fault detection, incident response, and system observability.

- Review the current technology architecture. Look for ways to automate tasks. Identify ways to improve performance. Find methods to enhance operations.

- Recommend and implement system upgrades. Make improvements to the architecture. Develop strategies for automation. These changes should improve reliability and scalability.

- Work across hardware, software, and network technologies in distributed computing and broadcast environments.

- Work with the broadcast engineering, operations, and technology teams. The goal is to address operational and business needs. We will create technical solutions that can grow and adapt.

- Ensure automation solutions adhere to corporate security, compliance, privacy, and governance policies.

- Provide technical direction for the project at every stage. This includes designing the architecture, implementing it, and supporting operations.

- Mentor team members on automation best practices, scripting methodologies, and observability tools.

- Maintain documentation and procedures for automation workflows. Keep knowledge repositories for monitoring architectures. Manage system integrations.

- Develop processes and tools that improve incident response, troubleshooting efficiency, and operational workflows.

- Stay current with emerging technologies and automation practices, recommending new tools and techniques where appropriate.

Basic Qualifications

- A bachelor's degree is required in one of the following areas: Broadcast Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Media Technology, or Digital Media Engineering.

- Equivalent experience of 5 to 7 or more years in broadcast engineering, NOC operations, or automation development, or applicable certifications, may be accepted in place of a degree.

- Applicable certifications include: 1. Society of Broadcast Engineers certifications like CBNE, CBTE, or CBRE. 2. Skyline Communications DataMiner certifications such as DMA or DMS training tracks. 3. Cisco certifications such as CCNA or CCNP. 4. Cloud certifications from Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, Google, or Oracle.

- Experience with Skyline DataMiner or comparable broadcast monitoring platforms.

- Experience integrating systems using REST APIs, SNMP, webhooks, or other telemetry protocols.

- You should have experience in developing automation scripts. You also need to have experience with monitoring tools. Additionally, experience with operational dashboards is required.

- Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python, JavaScript/Node.js, or PowerShell.

- Knowledge with architectures driven by system events, observability, and alerting systems.

- Experience working with containerized services, including Docker and Kubernetes, and modern automation frameworks.

- Knowledge of modern broadcast workflows, including playout automation, video encoding and transcoding, IP video transport (SMPTE 2110, NDI, and SRT), and satellite or fiber distribution.

- Knowledge of broadcast equipment telemetry and control interfaces and their integration with monitoring platforms.

- Experience integrating broadcast ecosystem systems, such as media asset management, scheduling and traffic systems, or cloud media workflows.
