On behalf of the MOD, we are looking for a Content Strategist (Inside IR35) for a 5 month hybrid contract up to 1 day per week in London or Corsham.

PLEASE NOTE: SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. The Defence Digital Foundry is an interconnected portfolio of digital platforms, data services and enabling capabilities.

The Content Strategist will help establish a coherent, user-centred approach to how information about the Foundry and its services is structured, governed, created, maintained and consumed. The role will work across portfolio and service boundaries to make information easier to understand, find, navigate, maintain and use.

The Role

Within the Foundry, the Content Strategist will develop and coordinate the content and information processes and products that support the portfolio, ensuring information is accessible, accurate, consistent and aligned with Foundry priorities. The role will support stakeholder engagement, customer adoption, governance, recharging communications and business change activity.

You will work across multidisciplinary teams and with senior stakeholders to understand user needs and translate complex technical, portfolio and service information into coherent, user-centred structures and content. The emphasis of the role is therefore not simply on producing content, but on establishing the strategy, architecture, governance and ways of working that allow good content to be produced and maintained consistently across the Foundry.

Responsibilities

Content strategy: Develop and maintain an overarching content strategy for the Foundry portfolio. Establish principles for how Foundry information and content should be created, structured, maintained and reviewed. Identify gaps, duplication and inconsistencies in existing content and recommend improvements. Establish a repeatable approach that can be adopted across Foundry services.

Information architecture: Develop a coherent information architecture for Foundry content. Establish clear relationships between portfolio, service, capability, product and supporting information. Improve the discoverability and navigability of information.

Content governance: Develop proportionate governance for the creation, approval, publication, review and retirement of content. Define clear content ownership and responsibilities. Establish content standards, templates and quality criteria.

Content processes and workflows: Design practical workflows covering the content lifecycle from initial need through creation, assurance, publication, maintenance and retirement. Identify opportunities to simplify existing processes. Define how portfolio and service-level content should interact. Develop reusable templates and patterns where these improve consistency.

User-centred content and journeys: Work with stakeholders and users to understand how different audiences discover, understand and engage with Foundry services. Take an end-to-end view of the journey across Foundry content rather than treating individual documents or pages in isolation. Identify points where unclear, fragmented or missing information creates barriers for users.

Content channels and repositories: Improve the organisation and management of Foundry information across relevant collaboration and publishing channels. Support effective use of SharePoint, Confluence, and mod.uk for structured, maintainable information.Establish clear principles for where different types of information should be maintained. Reduce unnecessary duplication between repositories.
