FOUN 110: Line + Space

This course focuses on drawing as a fundamental skill and investigative process. Students develop observational abilities through the study of point, line, mark, value, proportion, scale, perspective, time, and spatial organization. Traditional drawing practices, including figure drawing and measured observation, are combined with experimental approaches that expand the definition of drawing. Regular sketchbook work supports exploration, visual thinking, and concept development. Students are encouraged to explore how elements of line and space intersect across mediums, for example where a mark can create a line in drawing, a score for performance/film, and a suspended material in space.
