About this role
Sizewell C’s business is to design, finance, construct, commission, operate, maintain, and eventually decommission the nuclear power plant and related infrastructure at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Overall, whilst the Company is in the construction phase, the Boards’ principal focus is on the development and construction of Sizewell C on time, on budget and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Company is maturing to meet all these requirements.
Sizewell C is economically regulated by OFGEM under the RAB model similar to other UK electricity distribution networks and Thames Tideway.
Sizewell C construction strategy is to replicate the design of Hinkley Point C, using the majority of the same supply chain, but innovating in the way it is delivered to achieve savings in time and cost of around 20%. The CCO will need to be guided by and incorporate lessons learned from the Hinkley Point C commercial delivery to achieve Sizewell C’s ambition.
Following Financial Completion and Revenue Commencement, Sizewell C is fully funded and is owned by; The Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero representing HM Government, La Caisse, Centrica, EDF and Amber Infrastructure.

Be part of something bigger
At Sizewell C, we’re building one of Britain’s most important infrastructure projects, a new nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast that will play an important role in the UK’s energy future.
With a project of this scale and complexity comes the need for brilliant assurance. We need confidence that the right things are being looked at, the right risks are understood, and assurance activity across the organisation is connected, coordinated and giving our leaders the insight they need.
That’s where you come in.
We’re looking for an experienced Integrated Assurance Lead to help operate and continuously improve integrated assurance across Sizewell C, bringing together assurance activity across the Three Lines Model and helping create a clear enterprise wide view of assurance coverage, risks, gaps and emerging themes.
Why join Sizewell C?
This is your chance to play a key role on a nationally significant, highly complex and regulated infrastructure programme.
You’ll join Sizewell C at an incredibly exciting stage of its development, working across a diverse organisation and helping strengthen how we connect risk, controls and assurance to support better decision making.
You’ll be working with teams across Finance, Commercial, PMO, Quality, Internal Audit, Independent Nuclear Assurance, Safety, Security & Assurance and other areas across the business.
Why join us as our Integrated Assurance Lead?
This isn’t a role where you’ll sit on the sidelines reviewing assurance activity.
You’ll be at the centre of it, connecting assurance providers and business teams, challenging where something doesn’t quite add up, spotting gaps and duplication, and turning complex assurance information into clear insight.
Stakeholder management is a huge part of this role. You’ll need to be comfortable going back and forth with stakeholders to get the right information, build strong relationships and provide constructive challenge. Crucially, you’ll know how to read the room and adapt your approach, whether you’re working with operational colleagues, functional leaders or senior executives.
You’ll also take day to day ownership of the Integrated Assurance and Audit Plan, bringing together inputs from multiple assurance providers and ensuring activity, ownership, timing, outputs and dependencies remain visible and current.
What you’ll be doing
As a Integrated Assurance Lead you’ll:
- Operate and continuously improve the Integrated Assurance framework, procedures, guidance and ways of working
- Manage and maintain the Integrated Assurance and Audit Plan
- Coordinate assurance activity and inputs across the Three Lines Model
- Connect assurance planning with strategic objectives, significant risks, controls, obligations and critical project milestones
- Identify assurance gaps, unnecessary duplication, common findings and emerging themes
- Develop clear dashboards, reporting and thematic analysis for senior management and governance forums
- Track assurance activity and actions, constructively challenging delays or incomplete information where needed
- Build strong relationships with assurance providers, functional leaders and delivery teams across Sizewell C
- Support governance arrangements through clear papers, decisions, actions and follow up
- Assess the quality and relevance of assurance information and highlight limitations clearly
- Support the effective use and continued development of assurance systems and digital tools, including OaSIS Phase II
- Help strengthen understanding of integrated assurance and the Three Lines Model across the organisation.
What we’re looking for
The hiring team is looking for someone who really understands assurance, rather than someone with only adjacent risk or audit exposure.
Ideally, you’ll bring around 5 to 7 years’ relevant experience, alongside:
- Strong experience across assurance, risk, controls, audit, governance, compliance or quality in a large, complex or regulated organisation
- A strong working understanding of integrated assurance and the IIA Three Lines Model
- Experience operating an assurance framework or enterprise-wide assurance planning process
- Experience managing assurance plans or portfolios and coordinating multiple assurance providers
- A strong understanding of risk-based assurance and how organisational objectives, risks, controls and assurance activity connect
- Excellent stakeholder management, influencing and relationship building skills
- Confidence providing constructive challenge and working with stakeholders at all levels, including senior and executive audiences
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify gaps, duplication, emerging themes and areas of limited assurance
- Experience producing meaningful assurance reporting, dashboards and governance materials
- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and exercise sound judgement.
A relevant degree is welcomed, but strong, directly relevant professional experience is equally important. Relevant professional qualifications or memberships are also desirable, including those from the Institute of Risk Management, Institute of Internal Auditors, Association for Project Management, ICAEW, ACCA or CIMA.
Experience within nuclear, energy, utilities, construction, major infrastructure or another complex, highly regulated environment would be particularly valuable.
Ready to bring assurance together?
If you know integrated assurance, understand how risk, controls and audit fit together, and you’re brilliant at bringing people with you, we want to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to turn complex assurance activity into clarity, insight and confidence at the heart of Sizewell C.
Apply now and help us build the assurance that supports one of Britain’s biggest projects.
When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.
At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility that we can explore, we are fully committed to local recruitment where possible, and those already holding the right to work in the UK.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
