Be part of something bigger

At Sizewell C, we’re building one of Britain’s most significant infrastructure projects, a new nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast.

And behind a project of this scale is a huge amount of information. Risks, controls, assurance activity and project data all need to come together to give the business a clear picture of what matters and where attention is needed.

That’s where you come in.

We’re looking for a Risk, Controls & Assurance Analyst to join our Enterprise Risk, Controls & Assurance function. You’ll help bring together information, test its quality and turn it into clear insight, while supporting practical work across enterprise risk, internal controls and integrated assurance.

You’ll be at the core of how these disciplines connect. Your work could include developing a dashboard, helping document material controls or bringing together assurance findings. Working alongside colleagues across the function, you’ll build your understanding of how risks are managed, controls are evidenced and assurance supports business decisions.

Why join Sizewell C?

This is an exciting opportunity to build your career in risk and controls while working on one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure projects.

You’ll gain exposure across Enterprise Risk, Internal Controls and Integrated Assurance through practical assignments and working with experienced colleagues and following a personal development plan. You’ll develop analytical and reporting skills alongside insight into controls, assurance, and governance - building a rounded understanding of how a major organisation manages uncertainty and checks that important arrangements are working.

This is very much a development role, giving you the opportunity to grow your technical knowledge while getting hands on with analysis, reporting, dashboards, data quality and continuous improvement.

Why join us as our Risk & Controls Analyst?

If you’re analytical, naturally curious and enjoy getting into the detail, this could be a brilliant next step.

You’ll look beyond the numbers: asking questions, checking evidence, identifying connections and helping colleagues understand what needs attention.

We’re not looking for someone with decades of experience. Around 1 to 2 years’ experience in a relevant risk or controls role could be a great fit, while candidates with a relevant degree and strong analytical capability may also have the background we’re looking for. Experience in project management or data analytics would also be valuable.

What you’ll be doing

Working alongside colleagues across the function, you’ll build experience in the following activities:

- Collect, organise and analyse risk, controls, and assurance information

- Help create dashboards, analysis and materials for reporting, reviews and deep dives

- Identify trends, themes, emerging issues, data gaps and inconsistencies

- Help connect significant risks with management responses, controls, assurance activity and improvement actions

- Support internal controls and material-controls work through documentation, evidence collation, review coordination and action tracking

- Contribute to Fraud & Error Risk Management and Integrated Assurance activities, helping maintain records, map assurance coverage and track agreed actions

- Carry out data quality and completeness checks and work with colleagues to improve information

- Prepare clear presentations, reports, summaries and visualisations

- Support workshops and cross functional reviews, coordinating information and tracking actions

- Maintain action trackers, reporting calendars and supporting records

- Build relationships across Enterprise Risk, Internal Controls, Integrated Assurance, PMO Risk, Finance and Project Controls

- Use data analysis, visualisation and digital tools to help make risk and controls information clearer and more accessible.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone with either some professional experience in risk and controls or a relevant educational background, with the curiosity and analytical mindset to keep developing.

You’ll ideally bring:

- Around 1 to 2 years’ relevant experience in risk and/or controls, or a relevant degree, apprenticeship or equivalent experience

- Experience in an analytical, risk, controls, assurance, governance, project management or business support environment

- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret information from different sources

- A good understanding of risk management, internal controls and assurance principles

- Excellent attention to detail, particularly around data quality and accuracy

- Confidence producing clear reports, dashboards, presentations and analysis

- Good organisation and communication skills

- Strong Excel skills, with Power BI knowledge or experience also valuable

- A collaborative mindset and confidence working with colleagues across different teams and levels.

Experience in construction or infrastructure would be particularly useful, although the hiring team is open to candidates from other sectors too.

Qualifications

You could bring a degree, relevant apprenticeship or equivalent professional experience in areas such as risk management, governance, business, finance, assurance, audit, project management or data.

Working towards a relevant professional qualification is desirable, as is training or experience in areas such as Excel, Power BI, data analytics, process improvement or project coordination.

What matters is your ability to organise and question information, communicate clearly and follow work through carefully. You’ll be curious about how the business operates, comfortable asking for clarification and willing to develop your knowledge across risk, controls and assurance. Previous knowledge of these disciplines is useful, but we’re not expecting expertise across all of them.

Ready to turn information into insight?

If you’re analytical, curious and ready to build your career in risk and controls, we’d love to hear from you.

Whether you’ve already started building experience in the field or you’re bringing a relevant background and the right analytical skills, this is an opportunity to learn, develop and make an impact on a project that will help shape Britain’s energy future.

Apply now and bring your analytical thinking to the heart of Sizewell C.

When joining Sizewell C, you may wonder why you are contacted by colleagues with an EDF email or see the EDF logo on portals that you access and/or documentation you receive; this is because we have partnered with EDF for the provision of a number of support services whilst we complete a successful transition out of the EDF group.

At Sizewell C we encourage and embrace diversity and how it can improve our experience and performance at work. It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility that we can explore, we are fully committed to local recruitment where possible, and those already holding the right to work in the UK.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
