Shipping Clerk

Job Description: Aston Carter's client in Edmonton is looking for a Shipping Clerk to support daily transportation and distribution operations. This role serves as the primary point of contact for drivers, contractors, customers, and internal teams, ensuring the efficient movement of materials between production facilities, storage yards, and distribution centers. Job Responsibilities

- Act as the face of the branch at the front counter. Greet and manage drivers, contractors and customers as they arrive.
- Coordinate material coming onto and leaving the site. Book loads, position them (for example, assign a lane) and align the right load to the right truck with the warehouse and yard teams.
- Dispatch and coordinate roughly 30+ semi loads per day across flat deck, van and skid or mixed loads.
- Support the movement of product between production, the storage yard and distribution centers. Distribution points include Calgary, Abbotsford and Winnipeg.
- Work with the customer service team to track orders from request through to picked, completed and on the truck.
- Create bills of lading and process customer invoices.
- Process orders and lines accurately. Daily volume varies widely, from a single-line order to 1020+ lines or multi-truck shipments across Western Canada.
- Maintain filing and documentation.
- Communicate load status and changes to the warehouse team, yard team, drivers and customer service.
- Follow site safety procedures at all times.

Job Requirements:

- 1+ year shipping, dispatch, logistics coordination or warehouse desk experience.
- 1+ years in a high-volume environment; 30+ semi loads per day, 10 handled by the individual
- 1+ years processing a high volume of orders and lines; typical volume is about 1075 orders on 100500 lines.
- Experience processing invoices and orders and using Microsoft office tools.
- A safety-first mindset and comfort working near active forklift and semi traffic.

NICE TO HAVE

- Technology: laser scanning, SAP, InfoFlow
- Experience dispatching or coordinating semi-trailer, flat deck, van or mixed skid loads.
- Exposure to a TMS or freight platform such as Uber Freight.
- Experience with bills of lading and freight documentation.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution or building products. Pipe and large-format material is a plus.
- Experience working alongside a customer service or order desk team.

SOFT SKILLS

- Strong organization and time management, with the ability to track an order from request to picked, completed and on the truck.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift through the day.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
