About this role
Programme Director (Product & Supply Chain)
Hybrid Working - London (Kings Cross), Manchester or Corby
We're looking for an experienced Programme Director to lead a portfolio of complex, globally connected transformation initiatives that will shape the future of Product & Supply Chain at RS Group.
In this highly visible leadership role, you'll guide a team of project managers across a major business transformation programme, navigating complex dependencies, influencing senior stakeholders, and ensuring that strategic ambitions are translated into tangible business outcomes.
If you're energised by leading change at scale, bringing diverse teams together, and delivering results in a complex global environment, we'd love to hear from you.
The Role
The Programme Manager is responsible for coordinating the delivery of the Product & Supply Chain activity across the Process & Operational Excellence (P&OE) programme. The role will work collaboratively across the P&OE programme team, and with the relevant global process owners and global data owners to ensure there is a coordinated programme of work, with clear deliverables, plan and visibility provided into the P&SC leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with VP Group Product & Supply Chain Transformation and Global Process Owners to identify the capabilities and critical building blocks to enable a comprehensive and cohesive transformation for S2P and P2F to deliver the vision and outcomes
- Work with the P&OE programme to develop the delivery road map, including milestones, assumptions and dependencies (leveraging existing thinking and plans where possible). Be clear on how the road map fits together and who is involved, working collaboratively with the programme managers in the P&OE programme matrix and GPOs
- Co-ordinate a successful delivery of the programme through working end-to-end and collaborating cross-functionally/regionally to ‘join the dots’ across the different initiatives, workstreams and plans together to achieve the target outcomes to time/cost/quality
- Take direct ownership for delivery of P&OE-related initiatives on behalf of P&SC and create a programme of work to deliver these where not directly being delivered by the programme e.g. adjacent applications, process accelerators (e.g. Perfect Order, Supplier Portal) and data (e.g. Perfect Product) – with the relevant Project Managers reporting into the role
- Lead the team of P&SC project managers delivering on the P&OE programme.
- Develop strong understanding of the P&SC Data transformation direction and overall business goals and create high level plan and approaches to deliver. Take responsibility for shaping and influencing the P&SC Data transformation activity to support the wider business transformation, working collaboratively with the Global Data Owners for Product, Suppliers and Supply Chain and interfacing to the Data workstream within Process & Operational Excellence.
- Ensure alignment between P&OE, Product & Supply Chain strategic priorities and the wider transformation portfolio, proactively managing cross-programme dependencies and competing priorities.
- Shape strategic thinking on topics where key design decisions are required for Explore and/or Road Map (e.g. Non-stock)
Identify the optimal way for reporting progress across the P&SC Programme given the broader portfolio structures, and then monitor and report on the progress of the programme across milestone delivery, overall health, risk profile and budget
- Identify critical roles required and ensure we have the right resource capability and capacity in place at the right time
- Flexibility to replan when priorities change and to take on ad-hoc projects as required
- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior functional leaders, Global Process Owners and programme sponsors to secure alignment, resolve barriers and enable timely decision-making.
What we are looking for from you:
- Champion change with a growth mindset to support maturing organisational business readiness and change management plans to successfully execute new initiatives.
- Effective at conveying a vision, energizing others, establishing goals and measures, holding others accountable and delivering results.
- Demonstrates strong leadership presence, influencing skills and sense of urgency.
- Demonstrate ability to work in a complex, matrixed environment, and manage stakeholders effectively
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and demonstrate flexibility to adjust to changing landscape and changing requirements
- Highly advanced programme management skills with significant experience delivering multiple complex projects, delegating responsibility between teams, overseeing multiple projects, managing others, and leading teams to prioritize among competing project/customer needs.
- Excellent communication skills with ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
- Resilient and robust – the intellect and strength of character to deal with a demanding leadership team and stakeholder group, challenge the status quo by offering alternative perspectives and innovative solutions in an appropriately framed way
- Actively promotes core values and consistently integrates innovation, teamwork, respect, excellence, integrity, service, and accountability into each aspect of their work
- Strong coach and motivator, with proven experience leading teams and developing high potential talent.
- Demonstrated PMO leadership skills and ability to deliver business results and build strong teams.
Experience you will bring to the role:

- Have a strong understanding of Product and Supply Chain processes and controls
- Have experience working with different project methodologies
- Experience of upgrading supply chain infrastructure, systems and processes
- Ability to bring others on the change journey

- Balance attention to detail as well as being able to see the big picture
- Understanding of, and experience of data transformation in a complex global environment
