Are you a hands-on manufacturing leader with experience managing a custom fabrication shop? We're looking for a Production Manager to oversee daily operations, drive continuous improvement, and lead a high-performing team producing custom steel and aluminum railings, stairs, platforms, and fabricated assemblies for a family owned fabrication company with over 50 years of service in the MD/VA/DC market.
What You'll Do

- Plan, schedule, and monitor production to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.

- Manage inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, and material flow using Procore .

- Lead hiring, training, performance management, and development of production team members.

- Communicate production status, priorities, and potential delays across departments.

- Develop, implement, and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) .

- Establish and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.

- Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

- Maintain quality standards, investigate production issues, and implement corrective actions.

- Oversee equipment maintenance programs and support equipment acquisition planning.

- Ensure compliance with safety standards and foster a culture of accountability and operational excellence.

Qualifications

- Required: Experience managing a production facility that manufactures custom fabricated steel and aluminum products , such as railings, stairs, platforms, and structural assemblies.

- Strong understanding of welding processes including MIG, TIG, and Stick welding.

- Knowledge of fabrication methods, raw materials, and manufacturing best practices.

- Experience with Lean Manufacturing , process improvement, SOP development, and KPI management.

- Proficiency with Procore , Microsoft Excel, scheduling, inventory management, and purchase orders.

- Strong leadership, problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills.
