About this role
Job Title: Sr. System s Integration Engineer Job Description This role focuses on software-centric systems engineering for complex electrical and software-controlled systems. You will translate system needs into code-based requirements and software requirement specifications, collaborate closely with software teams on development, testing, and verification, and perform hands-on integration and troubleshooting of electrical hardware and embedded systems. While daily coding is not the primary focus, you will work at the intersection of software and hardware and may have opportunities to contribute to code development as part of broader systems integration activities. Responsibilities
- Develop clear, testable code-based requirements and Software Requirements Specifications (SRSs) for complex electrical and software-controlled systems.
- Collaborate with software development teams to ensure accurate interpretation and implementation of system and software requirements.
- Coordinate and support software testing and verification activities to confirm compliance with system-level requirements.
- Integrate electrical hardware and subsystems into larger platforms or vehicles, ensuring proper functionality and performance.
- Plan, execute, and document system integration tests for electrical systems, hardware, and software-controlled components.
- Troubleshoot complex electrical systems and software-hardware interactions to identify root causes and implement effective technical resolutions.
- Perform electrical hardware and subsystem integration, including power systems and electronics, into existing or new architectures.
- Work comfortably at the intersection of software and hardware, bridging gaps between embedded software, electronics, and system-level performance.
- Apply model-based systems engineering (MBSE) principles to support system architecture, requirements traceability, and design validation.
- Develop and refine system architectures, including interface definitions and management between subsystems and components.
- Conduct supplier and subsystem evaluations to assess technical performance, integration risks, and alignment with system requirements.
- Use modeling, simulation, and engineering analysis tools to evaluate system behavior and support design decisions.
- Perform hardware and software performance analysis to ensure systems meet functional, performance, and reliability targets.
- Create and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including design descriptions, integration plans, test procedures, and analysis reports.
- Identify, assess, and manage technical risks associated with system integration, and support mitigation planning and execution.
- Support data acquisition and analysis during integration and test activities to validate system performance and verify requirements compliance.
Essential Skills
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on experience integrating, testing, and troubleshooting complex electrical and software-controlled systems.
- Experience with electrical hardware and subsystem integration, including power systems and electronics.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical systems and resolving hardware and software integration issues.
- Experience integrating electronics onto larger platforms or vehicles.
- Comfort working at the intersection of software and hardware in embedded or systems-level environments.
- Experience with system integration testing for electrical and software systems.
- Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices.
- Experience with systems architecture development and interface definition/management.
- Experience with modeling and simulation for system analysis and design.
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and resolve technical issues in complex systems.
- Experience with hardware and software performance analysis.
- Strong technical documentation skills for requirements, design, test, and analysis artifacts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Familiarity with MBSE tools and practices, including requirements management and system modeling.
- Experience using DOORS or similar requirements management tools.
- Experience with MATLAB for modeling, simulation, data analysis, or algorithm support.
- Experience with data acquisition tools and methods in support of integration and testing.
- Experience with engineering analysis software used for system performance evaluation.
- Experience in risk management for technical systems, including identification, assessment, and mitigation of integration risks.
- Experience supporting supplier and subsystem evaluations from a systems engineering perspective.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including software, hardware, and test engineers.
Work Environment This position offers a 9/80 work schedule, providing an adjusted workweek with built-in flexibility, along with a hybrid work arrangement that combines on-site and remote work. You will work in a collaborative engineering environment that brings together systems, software, and hardware disciplines to integrate and validate complex electrical and software-controlled systems. The role involves time in lab or integration spaces working with electrical hardware, embedded systems, and test equipment, as well as time in an office or remote setting focused on requirements development, system modeling, documentation, and coordination with software teams.
