About this role

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Job Description This role offers an opportunity for a motivated mechanical engineer to help revamp an existing lineup of stringing sheaves and accessories while also inventing new products to fill portfolio gaps. You will apply strong computer-aided design skills and mechanical engineering fundamentals to design, prototype, and test innovative solutions. The position provides ongoing exposure to challenging engineering projects and the chance to grow as part of a highly capable engineering team. Responsibilities

- Design, prototype, and test new sheave concepts based on defined performance, safety, and functional requirements.
- Collaborate with other engineers to develop technical solutions for a variety of moderately complex design problems assigned by more sr engineers.
- Plan and complete assigned tasks and projects on schedule while meeting all technical, quality, and documentation requirements.
- Create accurate 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks to support design, analysis, and manufacturing activities.
- Support engineering change requests by updating models, drawings, and documentation in accordance with established procedures.
- Apply knowledge of industry standards, including relevant AWS and SAE standards, to ensure designs meet applicable codes and guidelines.
- Incorporate principles of design for manufacturability into new and existing designs to improve production efficiency and product reliability.
- Collaborate with operations and manufacturing teams to address production challenges and refine designs for ease of fabrication and assembly.
- Use finite element analysis tools (preferably within SolidWorks) to evaluate stresses, deflections, and safety factors in critical components.
- Integrate polymers and plastics into designs where appropriate, considering material properties, durability, and manufacturability.
- Develop and refine hydraulic system designs, including component selection and integration into heavy equipment.
- Design weldments and welded structures in accordance with applicable codes and best practices.
- Incorporate knowledge of OSHA, FMVSS, and AISC requirements into design decisions for heavy equipment and over-the-road applications.
- Design heavy equipment intended for over-the-road use, ensuring robustness, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Design with bearings, shafts, and other machine elements or rotating equipment, ensuring proper load paths, alignment, and service life.
- Apply fundamental engineering concepts from statics and mechanics of materials, including resolving loads, creating free body diagrams, analyzing beams, and applying stress and strain relationships to establish appropriate design factors of safety.

Essential Skills

- Proficiency in SolidWorks for creating detailed 2D drawings and 3D models.
- Strong foundation in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including statics and mechanics of materials.
- Minimum of three years' experience applying fundamental engineering concepts such as resolving loads, creating free body diagrams, analyzing beams, and using stress and strain to determine design factors of safety.
- Minimum of one year of experience performing finite element analysis, preferably using SolidWorks simulation tools.
- Experience designing with bearings, shafts, and other machine elements or rotating equipment.
- Experience designing heavy equipment for over-the-road use.
- Reasonable knowledge of design for manufacturability and common manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with supporting engineering change requests and associated documentation.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards organizations and standards, including AWS and SAE.
- Familiarity with OSHA, FMVSS, and AISC requirements as they relate to mechanical and structural design.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Experience with polymers and plastics, including selection and application in mechanical designs.
- Experience with hydraulics design, including integration into heavy or industrial equipment.
- Experience with the design of weldments and welded structures.
- Experience designing heavy industrial equipment, tractors, or large machinery.
- Ability to work as a self-motivated contributor within a collaborative engineering team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in both design and analysis work.

Work Environment The role is based in an engineering environment focused on the design and development of heavy equipment, particularly stringing sheaves and related accessories. You will work closely with a team of experienced engineers, using SolidWorks and associated analysis tools as primary design platforms. The position involves regular interaction with operations and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and aligned with production capabilities. The work includes a mix of computer-based design and analysis, along with hands-on involvement in prototyping and testing activities in a shop or lab setting. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to industry standards, and continuous improvement in product performance and reliability.
