About this role

This is the insights and analytics engine room for the ANZ business, where streaming, sales, and audience data turns into the decisions that shape artist campaigns, marketing spend, and executive strategy. As our Data & Insights Analyst, you'll contribute to analysis end-to-end, from the SQL query through to the leadership deck, and see your work directly influence how we back some of the world's most iconic artists and emerging talent.

This role reports into the Head of Data Analytics & Insights and is part of a broader regional team spanning the U.S, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

What you'll do:

- Contribute to and undertake analysis end-to-end - Take a commercial question from SQL query through modelling, validation, and a polished, leadership-ready deck on your own technical craft. This might include:
o Evaluating the performance of priority tracks, albums, and artists - digging into consumer reaction, social, chart, audience, and streaming data to inform executive decisions across the Sony Music repertoire.
o Assessing what is and isn't working in sales and marketing campaigns, and shaping the adjustments that get the best result for our artists and releases.
o Running deep-dive research on industry, competitor, streaming platform, social, and consumer trends to sharpen decisions and keep us ahead.

- Utilize internal and external business intelligence and data analytics tools to create new reports, dashboards, analysis and methods for evaluating new releases, analyzing campaign performance, uncovering actionable insights, reconciling conflicting data narratives + driving automation across disparate sources.

- Model the commercials - Build sophisticated Excel models for forecasting, ROI, and cost-per-outcome analysis, framing results in incremental streams/listeners, market share, and revenue impact, while applying commercial acumen to understand and communicate results.

- Tell the story to leadership - Translate dense analysis into clear, compelling, on-brand presentations that lead with the "so what," structuring actionable narratives for a time-poor executive audience.

- Maintain the dashboards and pipelines - Build and optimise modern and visually engaging dashboards or apps that turn internal and external data into actionable release, audience, and marketing insights, keeping data hygiene high and source-to-refresh latency near zero.

- Partner with the business - Act as analytics partner and data expert to marketing, digital, and label teams: agreeing realistic turnarounds, safeguarding data integrity, and flagging blockers before they surface late.

Who you are:

- You have 1-2 years in a quantitative or consulting role, ideally with media & entertainment exposure, and you are adept at solving problems logically, drawing clear conclusions from data and proposing effective solutions.

- You are comfortable working with large data warehouses (e.g. Snowflake, Redshift) or large data extracts. Familiarity with SQL, Python and/or Alteryx, and experience in automating, cleaning, and debugging your own workflows considered favourably.

- You build accurate and precise Excel models and design executive-ready PowerPoint decks that turn dense analysis into a story leaders can act on.

- You demonstrate acute problem solving ability coupled with commercial acumen: you connect data to business impact (revenue, market share, ROI, audience growth) in a way that resonates with non-technical colleagues.

- You're a clear communicator with sharp attention to detail, comfortable presenting to a room of peers and sense-checking your own work before it's shared.

- Bonus points for experience with music and streaming data, hands-on exposure to BI tools (Sigma, Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI), experience building forecasting or predictive models, or a tertiary qualification in Data Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Commerce, or a related field.

What we give you:

- You join a global community with the opportunity to channel your passion every day.

- Investment in your professional growth and development enabling you to thrive in our vibrant community

- The space to accelerate progress, positively disrupt and create what happens next. We give you the platform to champion positive change, with the opportunity to contribute to our social impact, diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives.

- We provide an excellent range of benefits like private health benefits, life insurances, inclusive paid parental leave, emergency back-up childcare, LinkedIn Learning, Novated car leasing options plus loads of industry discounts & perks!
