Purpose of the Role
The Project Materials Manager is responsible for leading and managing all materials management activities supporting the bp Kirkuk Project, ensuring that equipment and materials are accurately received, inspected, preserved, controlled, stored, tracked, issued, reconciled, and transferred throughout the project lifecycle.
The role provides leadership of the project's materials management function and is accountable for establishing robust processes, systems, and controls that ensure materials are available at the right time, in the right condition, and at the right location to support construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup requirements.
Working closely with Procurement, Expediting, Logistics, Construction, Commissioning, Quality, and Project Controls teams, the Project Materials Manager ensures complete material visibility, traceability, inventory accuracy, and preservation compliance while minimizing material shortages, damage, losses, surplus inventory, and schedule impacts.
The role plays a critical part in supporting construction productivity and schedule certainty through effective material planning, warehouse management, inventory control, preservation management, certification control, and material readiness reporting.
Given the project's location and operating environment, the position is expected to effectively manage material control requirements across complex logistics routes, remote operating locations, customs interfaces, construction work fronts, and local Iraqi infrastructure constraints.
