About this role

Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer Cryogenic and Industrial Process Systems Job Description This role focuses on delivering large, complex physical infrastructure projects involving cryogenic, fluid, and industrial gas systems. The Senior Systems Engineer will lead end-to-end system delivery, from design and integration through commissioning and startup, ensuring that equipment, piping, controls, and facility systems work together reliably at plant scale. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer with deep process and cryogenic knowledge who thrives on complex, multi-million-dollar projects and wants to contribute to cutting-edge, game-changing technology. Responsibilities

- Lead the delivery of large, complex physical infrastructure projects, typically valued at $2M or more, involving cryogenic, fluid, or industrial gas systems.
- Own the full lifecycle of systems from conceptual design and detailed engineering through installation, commissioning, and startup at plant or facility scale.
- Integrate equipment, piping and process systems, refrigeration and compression systems, and controls to create cohesive, reliable plant-level solutions.
- Apply deep process and cryogenic engineering knowledge to design and optimize complex process systems that meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
- Oversee and execute plant and facility commissioning activities, including system checkouts, functional testing, performance validation, and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate closely with controls engineers and integrators to define and implement plant control strategies using PLC-based systems and PI/PID control concepts.
- Use engineering design and analysis tools such as ASPEN, HYSYS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Onshape, SolidWorks, or comparable software to model, design, and document systems.
- Coordinate systems engineering and integration activities to ensure that mechanical, process, and control elements interface correctly and meet project specifications.
- Support the development, review, and maintenance of engineering documentation, including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, layouts, and control narratives.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including process, mechanical, and controls specialists, to resolve technical issues and ensure on-time project delivery.
- Leverage experience from industries such as oil and gas, industrial gases, aerospace, or semiconductor to inform best practices in large-scale process system design and commissioning.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and standards for complex cryogenic and industrial gas systems.

Essential Skills

- Bachelors degree in engineering, preferably in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 10+ years of experience delivering complex facility or infrastructure systems, preferably involving cryogenics, fluids, or industrial gases.
- Proven experience delivering large, complex physical infrastructure projects with multi-million-dollar scope (around $2M+).
- Demonstrated experience with plant or facility commissioning, including taking full systems through commissioning and startup at scale.
- Strong process engineering background with genuine depth in cryogenic or industrial process systems.
- 5+ years of experience with engineering design and analysis software such as ASPEN, HYSYS, EcoSim, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience with systems engineering and integration for complex process or industrial gas systems.
- Experience integrating equipment, piping, process systems, refrigeration systems, compression systems, and controls at a plant or facility level.
- Working knowledge of PLC-based controls and PI/PID control concepts, including how to collaborate effectively with controls engineers and integrators.
- Experience with controls integration and tools such as HYSYS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Aspen, Onshape, SolidWorks, or comparable platforms.
- background in engineering disciplines such as engineering, controls integration, systems engineering, process engineering, plant commissioning, and systems integration for cryogenic or industrial gas systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

- Chemical engineering or process engineering background, particularly with experience in compression, refrigeration, fluid handling, industrial gases, and process controls.
- Experience in industries such as oil and gas, industrial gases, aerospace, or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Familiarity with plant-level control strategies and collaboration with controls engineers to implement them.
- Experience using HYSYS, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and Onshape in a production engineering environment.
- Ability to transfer skills from related tools such as Aspen, SolidWorks, and comparable engineering software.
- Strong systems thinking mindset, with the ability to understand how individual components interact within a complex, integrated plant environment.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex process, mechanical, and control interactions during commissioning and operation.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Motivation to work on innovative, game-changing technology in an emerging field such as quantum-related infrastructure.
