Job Description

Operations & Business Development Support - Location: Dublin, Ireland

SOCOTEC is looking for a proactive and versatile Operations & Business Development Support professional to join our growing Engineering team in Ireland. Based in Dublin, you will provide critical operational, commercial and marketing support to the Ireland Engineering leadership team, freeing up our technical experts to focus on delivery while ensuring the business runs efficiently, wins new work, manages clients effectively and operates on a sound financial and administrative footing.

This is a varied, fast-paced role at the heart of a business unit scaling toward ambitious 2030 growth targets. You will work closely with the Ireland Engineering leadership team, the central SOCOTEC Marketing team and the UK Operations Team, helping to build a credible, distinct and growing Ireland-based engineering practice across Dublin, Letterkenny and, in future, Belfast.

The tasks you will undertake will include (but are not limited to):

- Work closely with the central SOCOTEC Marketing team to develop and execute Ireland-specific marketing campaigns and strategy
- Support the development and maintenance of the Ireland Engineering website content, including case studies and SEO for Irish search terms, ensuring a distinct positioning from SOCOTEC UK Services
- Coordinate the production of case studies, technical papers, white papers and thought-leadership content, such as legislative updates and UK cladding remediation experience
- Support LinkedIn and other social/digital presence, and coordinate participation in industry events such as the IFE Conference
- Assist with brand positioning to shift market perception from “a UK business” to a credible, Ireland-based engineering practice
- Act as the day-to-day operational point of contact for the Ireland Engineering team, working under the guidance and standards set by the UK Operations Team
- Support the implementation of standardisation, templates and process automation initiatives
- Assist with operational and Health & Safety compliance monitoring
- Support office administration and logistics as the team scales across Dublin, Letterkenny and, in future, Belfast
- Help coordinate onboarding logistics for new hires as the team grows toward its 2030 targets
- Identify and manage all Irish Engineering tenders and frameworks, receiving enquiries and coordinating client liaison during pre-contract stages
- Assist engineering leads in preparing, formatting and submitting fee proposals and bid documentation for prospective and existing clients
- Maintain a tracker of live bids and proposals, following up on outstanding client responses and ensuring Irish projects are reviewed before fees are issued
- Support consistency and quality control across proposal templates and pricing structures, and register new projects for onboarding and handover
- Support the Ireland Engineering team with invoicing processes using CymBuild, ensuring accurate and timely billing against project revenue
- Track invoiced-to-date figures against total secured revenue and monitor Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) per client and project
- Produce regular financial and operational reports for leadership, supporting turnover and EBITDA tracking against annual targets
- Liaise with the UK Operations Team on best practice use of CymBuild and reporting standards
- Take part in a monthly coordination session with other SOCOTEC Ireland Operations team members from different business units

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

- Prior experience in an operations, business support, or commercial coordination role, ideally within professional, engineering or construction services
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams — commercial, marketing, operations and finance-adjacent tasks — simultaneously
- Comfortable working with financial and project management systems
- Excellent communication skills, able to liaise confidently with UK-based Operations, Marketing and Engineering teams, as well as Irish clients and partners
- A proactive, adaptable mindset suited to a fast-growing business unit
- Based in or willing to be based in Dublin, with flexibility to travel within Ireland

Desirable

- Experience with CymBuild or similar financial/project management tools
- A track record of enabling smooth operational support so that technical staff can focus on billable work
- Experience supporting improved bid and proposal turnaround and win rates
- An understanding of marketing execution aligned with central branding guidelines
