About the Role

Neometal is looking for a Manufacturing Planner to keep our production floor running without interruption. You will own the schedule for CNC machining and assembly, release and manage assembly work orders in our ERP, and handle purchasing for raw materials, components and production supplies, so the right materials are on hand when production needs them.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is organized, analytical and comfortable in a fast-moving manufacturing environment. You will work closely with manufacturing leadership, inventory, quality and supply chain teams, and you will be trusted to investigate problems and solve them independently.

What You'll Do

Manufacturing Planning & Scheduling

- Build, maintain and adjust CNC machining schedules based on forecasted demand, machine capacity, inventory and operational priorities.

- Work with manufacturing leadership to evaluate capacity, constraints and scheduling needs.

- Check material availability and production readiness before work is scheduled.

- Track production progress, spot delays and bottlenecks early, and adjust the schedule as needed.

- Communicate priorities, schedule changes and material constraints to the teams affected.

Assembly Planning & Work Order Management

- Create, release and maintain assembly work orders in the ERP based on production requirements and inventory needs.

- Coordinate assembly schedules to support finished goods availability and customer demand.

- Monitor open work orders and component availability to keep jobs on track.

- Resolve work order discrepancies, material shortages and ERP-related production issues.

Purchasing & Procurement

- Place and manage purchase orders for raw materials, manufactured components and production supplies.

- Track supplier confirmations and deliveries, and follow up on past-due orders.

- Monitor inventory levels, reorder points, lead times and material requirements to maintain adequate supply.

- Talk with vendors about pricing, availability, delivery schedules and order discrepancies.

- Head off shortages and supplier delays before they affect production.

- Keep purchase orders, confirmations, expected dates and order status accurate in the ERP.

- Support supplier performance reviews and cost improvement efforts.

Operational Support & Troubleshooting

- Investigate and resolve day-to-day planning, purchasing and inventory discrepancies.

- Troubleshoot ERP transactions, work orders and material availability problems.

- Spot recurring process inefficiencies and recommend practical improvements.

What You'll Bring

Required

- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, production scheduling, purchasing or related supply chain operations.

- Experience with ERP/MRP systems, including production work orders, purchasing and inventory management.

- Working knowledge of MRP, reorder points, safety stock, supplier lead times and replenishment.

- Working knowledge of Bills of Material (BOMs), routings, purchase orders and inventory transactions.

- Ability to compare component requirements against inventory, open purchase orders and existing work orders to identify shortages.

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, plus working proficiency in Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail and record accuracy.

- Clear written and verbal communication with suppliers, manufacturing teams and internal departments.

- Self-directed and adaptable, with sound judgment and the ability to juggle competing priorities.

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred

- NetSuite experience.

- Experience planning CNC machining or assembly operations.

How Success Is Measured

- Accurate, timely production schedules that reflect capacity and material availability.

- Assembly work orders created, released and maintained on time.

- Material shortages, scheduling conflicts and purchasing delays caught and resolved before they disrupt production.

- Accurate ERP records for purchase orders, work orders and planning data.

- Better supplier on-time delivery through strong order management and follow-up.

- Purchasing aligned with lead times, minimum order quantities and inventory targets, keeping both shortages and excess inventory low.

- Measurable improvements in planning, purchasing and process efficiency.

Physical Requirements

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds if needed.
