Pre-Contracts and Estimating Manager VIC

Downer is seeking an experienced Pre-Contracts and Estimating Manager to lead the estimating and work-winning function for our Victorian Asphalt business. Reporting to the Melbourne Manager, you will take ownership of our pre-contracts strategy, lead key tender submissions and work closely with clients and operational leaders to secure a strong pipeline of future work.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Lead key tender submissions, developing bid strategies and ensuring strong commercial and technical outcomes.
- Review contract documents and drawings to identify risks, opportunities and appropriate bidding strategies.
- Prepare and oversee first-principles cost estimates, including plant, labour, materials and subcontractor requirements.
- Lead tender reviews and present submissions to review panels.
- Lead ex-bin sales strategy
- Monitor business performance and market trends to identify growth and improvement opportunities.
- Build strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, industry groups and key stakeholders.
- Lead, coach and develop the pre-contracts and estimating team.

ABOUT YOU

- 5+ years’ experience within asphalt, road infrastructure, civil construction or a related industry.
- Strong estimating, tendering and pre-contracts experience.
- Demonstrated ability to assess tender documentation, develop bid strategies and prepare first-principles estimates.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and manage project risks and opportunities.
- Proven ability to build effective client and stakeholder relationships and identify new business opportunities.
- Strong planning, organisation and time management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams.
