About this role
Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Equipment Engineer to join our team in South Korea. This is the team's **first hire in country**, making it a foundational role with significant ownership and visibility. This role will provide technical leadership for automated test equipment (ATE) operations at our OSAT partners, driving excellence in test cell qualification and problem resolution.
Key job responsibilities
Lead and execute new test cell qualification and bring-up activities at OSAT partners
Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex issues at OSAT facilities
Drive resolution of sophisticated setup challenges involving thermal, electrical, and mechanical systems
Conduct comprehensive technical audits at OSAT partners to ensure compliance with quality standards
Develop and deliver technical training programs for new team members and OSAT partners
Review and approve test cell configurations for production release
Partner with cross-functional teams to optimize test cell performance and reliability
Lead continuous improvement initiatives for test cell efficiency and yield
A day in the life
As our first engineer based in South Korea, you will be the on-the-ground technical anchor for our OSAT operations in the Incheon area — a foundational role with real ownership and visibility.
A typical week blends hands-on floor time with focused remote work:
- **On-site at the OSAT (3+ days/week):** You start the day walking the test floor — reviewing overnight test cell performance, checking in on qualification or bring-up activities in progress, and acting as the first point of contact when the OSAT team hits a complex thermal, electrical, or mechanical setup challenge. You run technical audits, review configurations for production release, and partner directly with the partner's engineers to keep yield and reliability on track.
- **Remote days (work from home):** You focus on the deeper work — analyzing test data, preparing audit findings, building training materials for OSAT partners and new team members, and syncing with cross-functional teams across time zones (including colleagues in Israel).
- **Quarterly business trips:** You travel to OSATs outside South Korea (Taiwan, Malta) to support bring-up and qualification, or to Israel for training and team collaboration.
Because you'll be the first local hire, you'll also help shape how the team operates in-country — setting the standard for how we engage our Korean OSAT partners.
About the team
You will join Annapurna Labs' Equipment Engineering team, which provides the technical backbone for our semiconductor test operations across our OSAT (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test) partners. The team owns test cell qualification, bring-up, and sustaining engineering for the ATE and handler fleet that validates our custom silicon.
As a globally distributed team — with engineers in Israel and a growing presence across APAC, including Taiwan — we work hand-in-hand with our OSAT partners to ensure every test cell runs reliably, efficiently, and to spec. Establishing a dedicated engineer in South Korea is a key step in expanding our regional footprint and deepening our partnership with local OSATs. You will be the team's first presence in Korea, working closely with colleagues across these sites while building the local engineering relationship from the ground up.
