This is an in-office role based at Equify's offices in Fort Worth, Texas. It is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
Position Summary: This role owns how Equify's core business applications support the work of the company. It is a high-ownership position for someone who works closely with the business units rather than at a distance from them. You will be the point of contact when a process is not working, when a system will not do what a team needs, or when a new requirement has to be defined. You will establish what is actually being asked for, determine whether the answer is a fix, a configuration change, a process change, or something new to be built, document it clearly enough for an engineer or a vendor to act on, and stay accountable for it through testing, rollout, and results.
The role is structured around product ownership rather than oversight. You will own outcomes rather than a work queue: deciding what gets addressed and how, setting the order, and remaining accountable for whether the problem was actually resolved. The work is hands-on and is expected to stay that way, since understanding why a process is not working generally requires sitting with the team that runs it.
Equify's technology team is small and delivers through a combination of internal engineers and external partners. Work is defined internally before it reaches a vendor, which places this position at the center of how technology investment is spent. You will have meaningful authority over what work is taken on and in what order, and you will report directly to the CTO.
Equify operates on a connected set of core platforms covering origination, servicing, CRM, and accounting, supported by a data lakehouse. You will develop working knowledge of each, sufficient to distinguish a genuine system limitation from a business process that needs to change. Telling the two apart is a recurring and consequential part of the role.
Key Roles / Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technology point of contact for business units across origination, servicing, collections, accounting, and asset management.
- Translate business need into written requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that an engineer or vendor can work from directly.
- Resolve issues through whichever means is appropriate, including configuration changes, process changes, vendor remediation, user training, or new development.
- Define and scope work before external resources are engaged, so that vendor engagements begin from documented requirements.
- Design and run user acceptance testing, including test plans, tester coordination, and the acceptance decision.
- Own intake and prioritization of system change requests across the business, including declining requests and explaining the rationale.
- Maintain the roadmap for the core platforms in partnership with the CTO.
- Document current-state business processes and system configurations, and maintain that documentation as systems change.
- Hold vendors and implementation partners accountable to defined requirements, timelines, and quality.
- Distinguish system limitations from process issues, and pursue the appropriate remedy for each.
- Own the outcome of each initiative as well as its delivery, confirming that the change addressed the business problem it was scoped to solve.
- Partner with reporting and analytics to define the measures the business needs.
- Use modern AI tools to accelerate research, documentation, analysis, and requirements work.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- 5+ years in a product owner, product manager, business analyst, or business systems role.
- Background in commercial finance, lending, or leasing. Because this role works alongside the business every day, a working command of origination, credit, servicing, and collections process and terminology is expected on arrival rather than learned here.
- Product owner or product management experience is valued regardless of prior job title. Demonstrated ownership of outcomes matters more than the title held.
- Demonstrated ownership of work from requirements through production, including user acceptance testing.
- Hands-on experience with enterprise line-of-business systems such as a lending, servicing, ERP, or CRM platform.
- Strong verbal communication and the judgment to pitch it to the audience. This role moves continually between business users, executive leadership, engineers, and outside vendors, and is responsible for each being understood accurately by the others.
- Strong written communication. This role produces requirements, process documentation, and test plans, where precision is essential.
- Able to work directly with business users at every level, including asking clarifying questions, challenging assumptions, and declining requests when appropriate.
- Experience coordinating external vendors and implementation partners against a defined scope.
- Comfortable working through ambiguity and setting priorities without heavy process or structure.
- Technically fluent: able to interpret data, understand how systems integrate, and engage credibly with engineers without performing the development work.
- Working proficiency with SQL, or the ability to develop it quickly.
We're looking for someone who is:
- Business-oriented: understands the work the business performs, not only the software it uses.
- An owner: takes an undefined problem, defines it, decides the course of action, and remains accountable for the result.
- Hands-on: comfortable working in the detail. This is not a supervisory-only position.
- A strong writer: much of this role's output is written, and its precision determines what gets delivered.
- Pragmatic: able to distinguish a genuine system constraint from a process that has not been revisited.
- Opinionated but collaborative: willing to push back constructively without being rigid.
- Builder mindset: sees a small team and broad scope as an opportunity, not a constraint.
Preferred: direct experience in equipment finance or specialty lending; experience with Salesforce, a major loan origination or servicing platform, Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, or a modern data platform such as Databricks.
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Positions self to install equipment, including under desks.
- Moves throughout the building to access files.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
Benefits:
- Competitive Compensation Package
- Medical + Dental + Vision Coverage
- 401K + Company Match
- Life Insurance + Long Term Disability Coverage - 100% Company Paid
- Health Savings Account (HSA)
- Gym Reimbursement Program
- Tuition Reimbursement Program
- Wellness Check Program - Insurance Premium Discounts
- EAP Resources
- Paid Holidays
- Paid Time Off (PTO)
