About this role

About the Role

Are you a proactive, hands-on engineer with a passion for keeping production equipment running at peak performance? We're looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician to join our manufacturing team and play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, maximising production uptime, and driving continuous improvement across the site. This is a fast-paced, site-based role where you'll be responsible for both planned preventative maintenance and reactive breakdown support. Working closely with production teams, you'll use your technical expertise to diagnose faults, implement long-term solutions, and contribute to a culture of operational excellence. Above all, we're looking for someone with a "can-do" attitude, a strong safety focus, and a zero-loss mindset who is passionate about continuous improvement and teamwork.

Shift Pattern

This position operates on a 12-hour rotating shift pattern, covering days and nights across 7 days per week, including weekends and bank holidays as part of the rota.

Key Responsibilities

As a Multi-Skilled Engineering Technician, you will:

- Provide rapid and effective response to equipment breakdowns, delivering both immediate fixes and permanent solutions.

- Take ownership of engineering performance within your designated TPM cell, working closely with operators to maximise machine reliability and uptime.

- Support daily direction setting meetings and contribute to achieving site OEE and performance targets.

- Diagnose faults using structured problem-solving techniques and implement corrective actions to prevent recurring issues.

- Carry out planned preventative maintenance activities across site equipment during production and planned shutdown periods.

- Work collaboratively with production teams to identify and resolve technical issues.

- Identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities through TPM, Lean and root cause analysis methodologies.

- Accurately record maintenance activities, root causes, labour and parts usage through the CMMS system.

- Participate actively in TPM (BCOS) activities, developing towards Cell Lead capability.

- Complete meaningful shift handovers and maintain effective communication between teams.

- Conduct risk assessments, Last Minute Risk Assessments (LMRA), and ensure safe systems of work are followed.

- Issue permits to work and immobilisation certificates where required.

- Maintain the highest standards of food safety, product quality, and health & safety compliance at all times.

About You

You'll be a qualified multi-skilled engineer with a strong maintenance background and a passion for problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. We'll be looking for:

- A completed engineering apprenticeship and NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a mechanical or electrical discipline.

- Previous maintenance experience, ideally within a food manufacturing or processing environment.

- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills, with knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment (Siemens preferred).

- A good understanding of health & safety, permit-to-work systems and lock-off procedures.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

- A proactive, safety-focused individual with a "can-do" attitude and a continuous improvement mindset.

- Basic IT skills, including experience with maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office.

- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (or equivalent) - desirable.

If you're a motivated engineer looking for your next challenge in a high-performing manufacturing environment, we'd love to hear from you.
