Build the Places Where Care Happens. Shape the Future of Health.
At ChristianaCare, our mission is simple yet profound: We take care of people.
As one of the nation's leading health systems, ChristianaCare is transforming how healthcare is delivered across the communities we serve. We are seeking an exceptional executive leader to join our organization as Vice President, Design & Construction and Real Estate, a role with significant strategic influence over the spaces, campuses, and infrastructure that enable world-class patient care and caregiver excellence.
Reporting to Bonnie Graham, Chief Finance Officer, Operations, this executive will lead ChristianaCare's enterprise-wide design, construction, and real estate strategy, overseeing a multi-billion-dollar capital portfolio and a diverse real estate footprint that supports growth, innovation, access, and operational excellence.
This is an opportunity for a visionary leader who understands that healthcare facilities are more than buildings. They are environments where lives are saved, families find hope, caregivers fulfill their purpose, and communities thrive.
As Vice President, you will help shape the physical future of ChristianaCare by:
- Leading strategic planning, governance, and execution of large-scale capital investments across multiple campuses and markets.
- Directing major healthcare construction, renovation, infrastructure, and expansion initiatives.
- Guiding enterprise real estate strategy, including acquisitions, dispositions, site selection, leasing, development opportunities, and portfolio optimization.
- Partnering with executive leadership, campus presidents, physicians, and operational leaders to align facilities and real estate investments with organizational priorities and patient needs.
- Serving as a trusted advisor to the C-suite and Board of Directors on growth strategy, capital deployment, and long-range planning.
- Developing high-performing teams and cultivating strong partnerships with architects, developers, contractors, brokers, attorneys, and community stakeholders.
The ideal candidate combines strategic vision with operational discipline and possesses the confidence to engage in complex boardroom discussions while remaining deeply connected to execution.
You bring:
- Fifteen or more years of progressive executive leadership experience in healthcare design and construction, capital project delivery, real estate, and development.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, real estate, architecture, engineering, construction management, or a related field is required. Advanced degree preferred.
- A proven record of leading complex capital portfolios exceeding $1 billion.
- Deep expertise in healthcare facilities, commercial real estate, portfolio strategy, and complex transactions.
- Exceptional financial acumen and experience balancing growth ambitions with fiscal stewardship.
- The ability to influence across highly matrixed organizations through collaboration, credibility, and trust.
- Experience engaging executive leadership teams, governing boards, and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Hybrid background including Health System, Academic Medica Center, Commercial Real Estate, and/or Major Healthcare-Focused Construction or Development Firm experience is preferred.
