The role's core strength is troubleshooting: PLC/control systems of any make, electrical power and control circuits, and mechanical equipment, finding the root cause quickly and fixing it right the first time. PLC programming is limited to minor changes; the emphasis is on diagnosing faults using the PLC, not writing new programs. The position brings capability in-house that is currently supplied by outside contractors. The position in located in South Brunswick, NJ - USA.

Where You’ll Make a Differenc e

PLC & Controls Troubleshooting (Primary)

- Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment across multiple platforms and brands (e.g., Mainly Emerson, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix/SLC 500/MicroLogix, Siemens S7/TIA Portal, Omron, Mitsubishi, Schneider/Modicon, and OEM skid controllers).
- Go online with the PLC to monitor logic, trace I/O, read fault codes, and determine the problem.
- Diagnose I/O cards, power supplies, processors, remote racks, and industrial networks (EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, ControlNet, Profibus/Profinet, Modbus).
- Troubleshoot HMIs/operator panels, VFDs, servo drives, DC drives and stand-alone controllers (e.g., loop/temperature controllers, sensors of multiple types).
- Upload/download and back up programs; restore from backup after hardware replacement.

2. Minimal PLC Programming

- Make minor, approved logic changes (timers, setpoints, adding/re-addressing I/O, simple rungs) following site Management of Change (MOC) rules.
- Document all changes and keep program backups current. Larger programming/new development stays with automation/engineering or integrators.

3. Electrical Troubleshooting & Repair

- Troubleshoot and repair 480V/240V/120V/ three-phase and single-phase power, 24VDC control circuits, MCCs, motor starters, contactors, relays, breakers, and control panels.

- Diagnose and repair AC/DC motors, VFDs, soft starters, heaters, transformers, and lighting.

- Troubleshoot instrumentation: 4–20 mA loops, I/P transducers, pressure/temperature/level/flow transmitters, RTDs, thermocouples, prox switches, photo-eyes, load cells, solenoid valves, control valves and positioners.

- Read and work from electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, P&IDs, and loop drawings; mark up drawings when field changes are made.

- Use meters, megohmmeters, clamp-on ammeters, loop calibrators, and thermal imaging.
