About DataMap

DataMap.ai is an AI-first technology consulting and solutions company focused on enterprise systems and automation. We build applications, implement ERP platforms, and provide managed services and production support at scale. Our clients include Fortune 500 enterprises and high-growth companies such as Google. They rely on us to modernize operations and automate workflows in ways that produce measurable business value.

DataMap is growing fast. We value innovation and collaboration, we work with urgency, and we reward speed, precision, and accountability. Teams here have the authority to solve complex enterprise problems and deliver results.

Why Join DataMap

This internship is a huge opportunity to build the AI-powered marketing engine of an AI-first company, with the full scope of marketing, direct work with DataMap leadership, and processes built to keep running after the internship ends. DataMap's marketing will run the way we expect all marketing to run in five years, with AI generating first drafts, optimizing for search, and scaling outreach. You build that system, and you do the first review of what it drafts before leadership approves anything for publication.

Role Overview

As the Marketing Intern, you are responsible for setting up the automated, AI-assisted processes behind everything marketing does at DataMap: content generation, copywriting, human review and editing of content, search engine optimization (SEO), top-of-funnel lead generation, advertising, and blogging. You build the pipelines, run them day to day, handle the human review and editing of what they produce, and route finished work to leadership for approval. You also do the design and web development work yourself with AI design and development tools, working directly with stakeholders across DataMap on what they need. You get hands-on mentorship from DataMap leadership, who set marketing strategy and priorities, approve everything that ships publicly, and sign off on all spending, which stays within approved budgets.

The internship is demanding by design, with tough deadlines and a fast pace. It is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt role planned around a 40-hour week, and every hour you work is paid.

Internship Details

- Term: Spring and Summer 2027, as one continuous internship.

- Schedule: Full time, with 40 hours per week expected in the office, scheduled around your class times.

- Pay: $12 per hour (non-exempt).

- Location: In-office only at DataMap's Overland Park, KS headquarters. No remote or hybrid work.

- Eligibility: You must be actively enrolled in a marketing course at a community college or a four-year college or university.

- Pace: Fast, with tough deadlines.

Your Growth Path

DataMap posts its entry-level marketing roles, and this internship puts you inside the work behind all of them.

During the internship, you stand up the AI marketing engine and run it across every channel, with leadership reviewing your work. If you ship reliable systems and strong work on deadline, you may be considered for openings such as Marketing Assistant I; Marketing Coordinator I; Growth Marketing Associate I; Marketing Analyst I; or Marketing, Advertising & Public Relations Coordinator I. DataMap's marketing roles continue from those entry levels through the Marketing, Advertising & Public Relations Associate levels (I through V), and from there the path can lead into marketing leadership and, over a career, executive leadership. A full-time role isn't promised when the internship ends, but you leave with an AI-first skill set, a portfolio of published work, and exposure to Fortune 500 business and enterprise technology.

Key Responsibilities

Build the AI marketing engine

- Design, build, and document the automated, AI-assisted pipelines that run DataMap's marketing.

- Create the prompt libraries, brand-voice guides, templates, and content briefs that shape what the AI produces.

- Connect each pipeline end to end, from research and briefing through drafting, human review, approval, publishing, and measurement, with a clear owner and deadline for each step.

- Measure each pipeline's speed, quality, and results, and keep improving the automation.

Human review and editing

- Review and edit every AI-generated draft for accuracy, clarity, brand voice, and fit with business goals before it moves forward.

- Fact-check claims, statistics, client references, and sources, and confirm DataMap has permission before any client is named or quoted.

- Check copyright and usage rights on images and AI-generated assets, and flag anything that needs legal, subject-matter, or leadership review.

- Build review checklists, style rules, and approval routing into every workflow so nothing is published without leadership sign-off.

- Keep messaging consistent across the website, collateral, social, partner materials, and every other channel.

Content, copywriting, and creative

- Produce blog posts, case studies, whitepapers, industry reports, video scripts, and website content with AI assistance, then edit them into finished work.

- Use AI copywriting workflows to draft brand narratives, taglines, product and sales messaging, and sales-enablement collateral such as brochures and pitch decks, then refine the messaging and positioning with leadership.

- Produce graphics, infographics, short-form video, and presentations with AI-assisted design tools, and review them against brand standards.

- Maintain the editorial calendar with leadership: research topics and tell DataMap's story through client successes, internal achievements, and company growth.

SEO and website

- Set up automated SEO workflows for keyword research, on-page optimization, metadata, and content-gap analysis, and apply them to everything DataMap publishes.

- Design and build website updates yourself with AI design and development tools, working with stakeholders on the content, look, and user experience, and queue each change for leadership approval before it goes live.

- Build and optimize landing pages for lead generation and conversion with AI development tools, using traffic data and A/B tests to improve the customer journey.

Top-of-funnel lead generation and email

- Build automated top-of-funnel programs for new prospects and partners: targeted outreach, lead-generation campaigns, and email nurture sequences. These programs don't target existing clients, and they follow email-consent, opt-out, and data-privacy requirements.

- Use AI to personalize email campaigns at scale, with human review and leadership approval before every send.

- Build AI-assisted email programs for existing clients and industry partners, such as newsletters, client success stories, and event invitations, coordinated with the project manager who manages each client relationship, with human review and leadership approval before every send.

- Help define ideal client profiles and audience segments, and route qualified interest to sales and business development.

Advertising and paid media

- Build AI workflows that generate, test, and refresh ad copy and creative across search, social, and video channels, and queue each creative variant for leadership approval before it runs.

- Run digital advertising campaigns within approved budgets, get leadership sign-off before any spend, and track spend against the budget.

- Optimize performance through tracking, A/B testing, and audience segmentation, and report on advertising ROI.

Social media, PR, and executive thought leadership

- Run an AI-assisted social calendar: draft posts for leadership sign-off and schedule them once approved, draft replies to audience comments within approved brand and response guidelines for leadership sign-off, and track performance and industry trends.

- Set up AI-assisted workflows that draft LinkedIn posts, thought-leadership pieces, and contributed media articles for each executive to review and approve.

- Help leaders grow their online and media presence and their speaking opportunities at conferences and industry events.

- Use AI drafting workflows to prepare press releases and media pitches, distribute them once leadership approves, and support media outreach for features and interviews.

- Monitor brand mentions and sentiment, help keep crisis communications materials current, and support coordination with outside PR agencies when DataMap engages one.

Partnerships, events, and internal communications

- Use the AI content engine to produce co-branded content and joint campaigns with strategic partners for leadership approval, and track the results.

- Develop repeatable AI-assisted playbooks for webinars, company and internal events, and sponsorships, covering promotion, invitations, follow-up, and recaps.

- Build AI-assisted workflows for internal newsletters, announcements, leadership messaging, and communications about new initiatives, product launches, and process changes.

- Create employee engagement and brand-advocacy content that helps employees understand and promote DataMap's vision, mission, and values, and help HR build onboarding and training materials.

Research, analytics, and strategy

- Automate market, competitor, and audience research covering industry trends and emerging technologies, positioning and differentiation, pricing, competitor campaigns, customer pain points, and customer surveys, interviews, and feedback.

- Build dashboards that track traffic, engagement, lead conversion, sentiment, PR effectiveness, and marketing ROI.

- Turn the data into concise reports and recommendations, including new partnership and branding opportunities, for leadership, sales, product, and business development.

- Help plan integrated campaigns across digital, content, PR, print, and broadcast that support business goals, positioning, and growth into new markets, and deliver them on deadline.

Qualifications

- Actively enrolled in a marketing course at a community college or a four-year college or university (required).

- Strong writing and editing skills: you can turn a rough draft, AI-generated or not, into something sharp and accurate.

- Demonstrated use of AI assistants (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) for writing, research, or creative work. Come ready to show examples.

- Interest in content marketing, SEO, advertising, social media, PR, and data-driven decision-making.

- Comfort with numbers, spreadsheets (e.g., Google Sheets, Excel), and basic analytics.

- Strong organization and attention to detail; you meet tough deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

- Clear communicator who can work directly with executives, act on feedback, and take responsibility for your work.

- Able to work full time (40 hours per week) on-site at our Overland Park, KS headquarters.

Preferred Experience

- Coursework or projects in copywriting, content marketing, SEO, digital advertising, social media, or public relations.

- Experience building automated or AI-assisted workflows (e.g., no-code automation tools, prompt libraries, AI writing or image tools).

- Familiarity with marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot, WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Analytics).

- Experience using AI tools for design or web development, such as AI image and layout tools or AI coding assistants for building web pages.

- Exposure to ad platforms (e.g., Google Ads, LinkedIn Ads) or social media tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).

- A portfolio, blog, or social presence that shows your writing or creative work.

Benefits & Perks

- Paid internship at $12 per hour.

- Hands-on mentorship and career development opportunities.

- Exposure to Fortune 500 business and enterprise technology.

- Networking opportunities with industry professionals and technology leaders.
