PrideStaff is hiring an Import & Tariff Specialist for a client in Oakland Park. This job goes beyond simple data entry. We need someone who understands global shipping rules, can spot billing mistakes, and can help the company save money on import taxes and customs fees.
You will ensure every item is labeled with the correct customs code before it ships, preventing carriers like FedEx, UPS, and DHL from overcharging on import duties.
What You’ll Do
Pick the Right Product Codes: Look up and assign official 10-digit customs codes (HTS codes) for all our products. You should be able to explain your choices using official rules so we legally pay the lowest taxes possible.
Work Directly with Shipping Carriers: Be the main contact for FedEx, DHL, and UPS. You'll make sure they check in with our team before guessing codes or clearing packages on their own.
Audit Bills and Fix Overcharges: Check shipping and customs invoices closely to catch billing errors. When carriers overcharge, you’ll file formal corrections and disputes to get that money back.
Find Duty Savings & Refunds: Run our refund programs (Duty Drawback) and take advantage of trade deals like the USMCA to lower import taxes.
Track the Numbers: Match up international bills with our internal purchase orders and customs records. Help close out the books each month by tracking export and import costs.
What You Need to Apply
Customs Knowledge: Solid understanding of the U.S. tariff schedule and federal customs rules.
Carrier Portal Experience: Hands-on experience working inside billing and customs websites for FedEx, UPS, and DHL.
Strong with Numbers: Experience checking financial invoices, finding balance errors, and tracking tax payments.
Experience: At least 3 years working in trade compliance or international accounting.
Tech Skills: Comfortable using ERP business software and advanced Microsoft Excel tools (like formulas and lookups).
