About this role
We're seeking a Group Manager to lead a team of Capability Partners who serve as strategic business partners to enterprise and ecosystem leaders. This is a business leadership role, not an instructional design or L&D delivery role. Your Capability Partners already own translating business demand into learning investments and measuring impact — your job is to run that team like a business function: setting standards, governance, and accountability, while being a credible peer to senior business and cross-functional leaders yourself. Business acumen matters more here than learning expertise.
Responsibilities
Business Leadership & Partnership
- Operate as a senior business partner to leaders across enterprise and ecosystem segments, understanding their priorities and pressures well enough to shape decisions, not just support them
- Build trust-based relationships across business, product, ops, field, and learning supply chain leaders — be the person they bring capability problems to
- Hold your team to a standard where every initiative traces back to a named business priority; push back when it doesn't
- Own prioritization trade-offs directly; when demand exceeds capacity, make the call on what doesn't get done and defend it to business leaders rather than escalating every conflict upward
Team Leadership, Governance & Standards
- Lead, manage, and develop your Capability Partners — set clear expectations for how they operate and how they're held accountable
- Establish governance for demand intake, prioritization, and roadmap decisions so segments are handled consistently, not ad hoc per partner
- Set the bar for executive communication: every brief, MBR, and update meets a decision-ready, no-filler standard before it reaches a business leader
- Instill a performance-consulting mindset on the team — diagnose root cause before defaulting to a learning solution
- Hold the line on sequencing and scope decisions once made; don't let individual stakeholder pressure override team governance
Supply Chain & Quality Oversight
- Own the relationship with learning supply chain (content production, LMS/LXP platform, delivery) so your team stays focused on business partnership, not content creation
- Serve as the escalation point for quality or delivery issues your Capability Partners can't resolve directly
Business Outcomes & Measurement
- Own the team's measurement framework — credible enough to defend in front of senior leadership
- Represent your team's collective impact to senior stakeholders and your own leadership chain
Qualifications
Required
- 10+ years in a business partner, strategy, or operations leadership role
- 5+ years leading teams of 10+, ideally in business-partner or account-management structures
- Demonstrated business acumen: understands what drives cost, revenue, and productivity in a service/support business and translates that into team priorities
- Track record building trust and credibility with Director+ stakeholders across functions
- Strong operator — can set governance, standards, and expectations for a distributed team and enforce them
- Comfortable owning unpopular trade-off decisions and defending them under pressure, not just surfacing options for someone else to decide
- Excellent communicator, able to write or coach others to write executive-ready briefs
Preferred
- Experience managing a team inside a shared-services or enablement function that serves business-unit stakeholders
- Exposure to LMS/LXP ecosystems, helpful not required
- MBA or equivalent business background
