About this role
Job ID: 6747
Welcome to Group Technology, where we pride ourselves on engineering solutions and directing Nordea's transformation by providing a holistic technological view and structured understanding of the bank and its surrounding environment.
We are looking for a full-time Application Technical Specialist - Payments to strengthen Application Management within Embedded Banking Technology. In this role, you will combine hands-on technical application expertise with responsibility for keeping important payment services stable, secure and well managed.
Nordea is a place where traditions meet tomorrow. We're not just a bank; we're a tech employer on a mission to evolve finance securely and responsibly. Together, we impact millions of people's daily lives by ensuring they can access our solutions anytime, anywhere, while safeguarding their personal data and wealth.
About our team
Meet the Application Management team in Embedded Banking Technology. We help keep Nordea's corporate payment applications reliable, secure and ready for change, so our customers can send files and access information about their transmissions with confidence.
You will work with a portfolio of business-critical corporate payment applications. The portfolio spans mainframe and Java-based solutions and supports file-based payment services for corporate customers.
This is a technical application management role. You will be expected to understand application behaviour, integrations, logs, data flows, batch and file processing, production issues and operational dependencies. You will also act as the technical counterpart to a managed service partner, ensuring that analysis is clear, responsibilities are understood and agreed actions are completed.
What you'll be doing
Main responsibilities in this role:
- Investigate production issues across mainframe, Java applications, integrations, logs, batch/file flows and operational data.
- Act as the technical counterpart to a managed service partner, reviewing analysis, challenging unclear conclusions, clarifying responsibilities and following agreed actions through to completion.
- Support incident, problem and change management, including customer impact assessment, root cause review, production releases and technical verification.
- Coordinate operational risk, vulnerability and stability follow-up, translating findings into clear actions with the right internal teams and suppliers.
- Improve monitoring, documentation, runbooks, operational procedures and automation to reduce recurring incidents and manual work.
Who you are
This is the right role for you if you enjoy technical investigation, application ownership and working across teams to get issues solved properly.
You:
- Are technically curious and like understanding how applications really work end to end.
- Take a structured approach, distinguish symptoms from root causes and follow actions through to completion.
- Know when to solve an issue yourself, when to involve specialists and when to coordinate follow-up with the appropriate team.
- Communicate technical issues clearly, including customer impact, evidence, risks and recommended next steps.
- Can work constructively with suppliers and internal teams, setting clear expectations and challenging delivery when needed.
Your background and skills include:
- Solid experience in technical application management, production support, application operations or a similar role involving business-critical applications.
- Practical experience with mainframe environments, batch/file processing, integrations and production support.
- Working understanding of Java-based applications, logs, infrastructure dependencies and operational monitoring.
- Experience with incident, problem and change management, including production releases and post-release technical verification.
- Experience working with external service providers or managed service partners, including reviewing technical analysis and challenging conclusions when evidence, root cause or responsibilities are unclear.
It would be ideal if you also:
- Have experience with payment services, file-based integrations, banking applications or another regulated technology environment.
- Have experience with vulnerability management, operational controls, documentation or audit/compliance support.
The role is based in Stockholm, Sweden. Due to specific production verification requirements, a Swedish personal identity number is required. Occasional participation in planned release and verification activities outside normal business hours may be required.
