This role focuses on planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning activities for low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment and distribution systems. The Electrical Commissioning Engineer ensures that all power systems and associated equipment are installed, tested, and operated in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and commissioning procedures, while identifying and resolving technical issues before system turnover.
Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute commissioning activities for low-, medium-, and high-voltage electrical equipment and distribution systems in alignment with project scope.
- Oversee and participate in electrical equipment inspections, acceptance testing, startup verification, and functional performance testing.
- Perform functional testing of protection and control circuits associated with transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, feeders, bus systems, and related electrical distribution equipment.
- Verify electrical equipment installation and operation against approved engineering drawings, specifications, and commissioning procedures.
- Support testing and commissioning of automatic transfer switches, generators, UPS systems, and emergency power distribution equipment where applicable.
- Verify system operating sequences, interlocks, control functions, protective trips, alarms, and alternate power operating configurations.
- Conduct pre-energization checks, startup testing, and operational verification in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements.
- Support integrated systems testing to evaluate system performance under normal, emergency, and alternate operating conditions.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment deficiencies, control circuit discrepancies, operational abnormalities, and commissioning failures.
- Coordinate corrective actions, retesting, and resolution of technical issues prior to system acceptance and turnover.
- Communicate technical findings, issues, and recommendations clearly to project stakeholders and clients.

- Detail-oriented approach to verifying installations against engineering drawings, specifications, and commissioning procedures.
Work Environment
The Electrical Commissioning Engineer works primarily in project-based environments involving low-, medium-, and high-voltage power distribution systems. The role includes time on-site at facilities where transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, feeders, bus systems, automatic transfer switches, generators, UPS systems, and emergency power distribution equipment are installed and commissioned. Work typically involves hands-on testing, inspections, and troubleshooting around energized and de-energized equipment, following established safety and operating procedures. The position requires collaboration with engineering teams, contractors, and clients, as well as clear communication of technical findings and recommendations.
