About this role
Welcome to Lava Island
Lava Island is an indoor play oasis where kids fly across trampolines, vanish into towering jungle gyms, dive into foam pits, and race down slides while families share pizza and celebrate birthdays in the party rooms. It is loud, bright, and full of energy.
All that energy is hard on a building. Magma Core Solutions (MCS) is the team that builds our parks, and part of MCS's job is keeping them running once the doors open.
What You're Really Keeping Running
Every day, our parks send in maintenance requests: a running toilet, a sticky door, a scuffed wall, a loose outlet cover. They aren't big jobs, but they add up, and they're not things we want our park teams taking on themselves. You are the person who shows up and takes care of them.
You will travel to our Midwest parks in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, and Michigan on a regular rotation, working through a list of assigned tickets at each stop. Get it right and our parks look great, repairs get done right the first time, and park teams know someone has their back.
Why You'll Love Working at MCS
- Variety every week. Different parks, different fixes, and no two days the same.
- Clear work. Your tickets are assigned and ready when you arrive, so you can get right to it.
- Room to work independently. You run your own visits on the road, with a manager who has your back.
- Tools and vehicle provided, plus a warehouse home base stocked with what you need.
- New skills. Paid training to inspect our play and trampoline equipment.
- Work you can see. Every fix makes a park better for the families who came to play.
- Competitive hourly pay with overtime, medical, dental, and vision, and employee perks.
What You'll Do
You are the hands-on maintenance partner for our Midwest parks, completing general repairs and supporting maintenance, inspections, and projects on site.
Fix what's broken
- Complete assigned maintenance tickets in our maintenance app.
- Handle general repairs: touch-up painting, toilets and sinks, doors and hardware, woodwork, drywall, and basic electrical like outlets, switches, and cords.
- Install replacement parts our facilities team orders for each park.
- Close out every ticket with notes, photos, and parts used.
Keep parks in good shape
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks and walk-throughs during visits.
- Get trained to inspect our play and trampoline equipment, and catch issues early between third-party inspections.
- Assist on special projects and new park openings in the region.
Manage the road
- Pick up small repair supplies locally within a set budget.
- Track your purchases and travel expenses.
- Keep the company vehicle, tools, and warehouse supplies organized.
Who We're Looking For
This is a seat for a capable, self-driven handyman. The people who do well here are:
- Handy. You're comfortable with a wide range of general repairs.
- Self-starters. You get to work and get the list done without being chased.
- Reliable. You show up when scheduled, finish what you start, and close out every job.
- Trustworthy. You handle company purchases and expenses carefully.
- Friendly. You work well with park staff and leave them feeling supported.
- Comfortable on the road. Overnight trips and long drives don't slow you down.
- Willing to learn. You pick up new skills and systems as we grow.
What You'll Need
- 2 or more years of handyman, general maintenance, or construction experience.
- Working skills in painting, basic plumbing, door and hardware repair, woodwork, drywall, and basic electrical.
- A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and the ability to meet company vehicle insurance requirements.
- Willingness to travel heavily, including roughly 10 overnight stays per month and occasional Saturdays.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders, at heights, and in tight spaces.
- Comfort using a maintenance app on a smartphone, plus basic email.
- Ability to pass a background check.
Nice to have
- Multi-site or traveling maintenance experience.
- Experience in retail, hospitality, property management, or family entertainment facilities.
- Experience with MaintainX or a similar maintenance app.
A full job description will be shared and walked through with you during the process, so you have the complete picture before moving forward.
