- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application compatibility and performance issues in a multiuser desktop environment, including applications such as Matlab, Exceed, NX, and thirdparty simulation tools.
- Act as the escalation point for desktoptier issues that cannot be resolved by frontline support teams.
- Manage the Windows VDI base image lifecycle, including operating system patching, rollback, application deployment, and standardization in alignment with the Software Store Standardization initiative.
- Support the migration of user data from legacy environments, ensuring a smooth transition for new and migrating VDI users.
- Handle onboarding and access provisioning activities for new VDI users, including permissions, profiles, and application access.
- Monitor session performance, resource utilization, and concurrency to identify bottlenecks and proactively address performance issues.
- Provide capacity and utilization data to support provisioning decisions, cost benchmarking, and optimization by engineer persona.
- Support deployment, security, and compliance activities for the VDI environment, ensuring adherence to organizational standards.
- Ensure VDI environments meet cybersecurity standards and participate in vulnerability remediation activities.
- Support standardized and automated Windows deployment models aligned with broader CI/CD and automation goals.
- Partner with the digital technology (DT) team on infrastructure, networking, and cloud capacity, including AWS WorkSpaces or equivalent technologies, providing Windows desktop expertise while DT manages cloud and network components.
- Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to maintain a stable, secure, and highperforming environment for engineering and scientific applications.
- Contribute to ongoing improvements in software packaging, deployment automation, and application delivery models as needed.
Essential Skills
- Deep expertise with Windows Server administration.
- Strong experience with Active Directory, including user and group management and domain services.

- Ability to diagnose and resolve VDI performance and reliability issues affecting engineering users.
- Strong understanding of security and compliance practices in a Windows and VDI context.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with infrastructure, networking, and cloud teams to support a virtual desktop environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a dualprotocol VDI environment supporting both Windows and Linux desktops.
- Background supporting engineering or scientific applications in a VDI environment, such as simulation and modeling tools.
- Familiarity with software packaging and automated application deployment processes.
- Experience with Software Store or similar application catalog and delivery models.
- Scripting skills in PowerShell for administration, automation, and deployment tasks.
- Comfort working within standardized and automated Windows deployment models aligned with CI/CD practices.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with a focus on user experience and reliability.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues into clear, actionable information for stakeholders.
